I'm interested in corresponding with others researching this BERRY family.
William and Hannah married in 1793 in Faquier County, Virginia and had the
following children, known to me -
John (might have gone on to Indiana since there is a John BERRY listed in
the 1860 Census for Scott County, Indiana.
Catherine
Sarah
Abraham
Seymour
Isaac
Andrew.
I have extensive information about Seymour and his descendants as I descend
from him. He married Kesiah DURBIN and is buried in Jackson County, Indiana,
I have been given information on two Jackson Co.,IN marriages and need to
find
the book and page numbers so that I can send for copies.
They are:
Henry HAWKINS and Mary REYNOLDS m: 20 Oct 1851
Henry HAWKINS and Mary LORANCE m: 02 Dec 1854
Mary LORANCE could be listed as Mary MARTIN since her first marriage
was to Edward MARTIN in Jackson Co. 25 Mar 1847.
Help will be greatly appreciated.........
Thanks
Janet

Grassy Fork Township is indeed near Crothersville. It is to the west and
southwest with the major town being Tampico. What names are you looking for?
I have the Cemetery listing book for Grassy Fork Township, and the 1870
Census transcription for all of Jackson County and would be happy to check
for you. I have a few maps taken from the Cemetery book, but they are very
poor quality. I'd try to scan one or two and send them to you, but doubt if
that would be successful.

Then why isn't it on the County map?

Because it's a very small town, almost not a town at all. As of an 1878 map
it is clearly in Jackson County, Indiana. In Owen Township, by the way.

Hello,
I am very new at this so I hope not to mess it up. I just
read a post about getting copies of marriage Cert's if you
know the book and page number. I think I have some of that
information, but were do I send for the copies?
I am doing research on Schneider, (Snider, Snyder), &
Miller. Thank you for any help.

Dennis,
Crothersville is actually in Vernon Township. Do you know the name of the
cemetery that your ancestors were buried? I have a map of Jackson county
that shows the townships and cemeteries, maybe I can help you.

son Pleasant. I'm also looking for her parents Michael and Jane HUGES, and
her brother's family Silas, Parthena, James, and Mary HUGES. Thank you.

The county seat of Jackson County is Brownstown, but Seymour is much larger,
this is where you would want to stay. Actually it's about the only place in
Jackson County you could stay! The Jackson County Genealogical Society has
a very nice genealogy library in Brownstown. The Seymour Public Library also
has a very good genealogy section. If Mrs. Rebber is there she is very
helpful. You can get a very good map of the county at the courthouse in
Brownstown which is open M-F. These county maps list all the c

I am looking for information on DAVIS's in Jackson County. This is what I
have, my ggg-grandfather is Silas J Davis, born 1/6/1847 Jackson Co to
Samuel and Polly (Huges) Davis. Samuel was also born in IN, about 1820,
Polly was born in NC around same year. I have the 1850 cesus for Jackson Co,
Owen Twp. It shows quite a few Davis's and Huges's, but I have no idea if
any of them are related because I don't have a birth certificate for either
Samuel or Polly. Can anyone help me?
