Hello all,
The Times is doing a big story on John Dillinger lately, probably due to the
Lake County Convention and Visitors Bureau in Hammond having a Dillinger
display going on.
Well, my family was involved with Dillinger and some scary things went on. My
aunt even had an interview with the Times back in 1984 on the 50th
anniversary of Dillingers death. I sent this info to the reporter who is
doing the newer stories, but I'm still not seeing anything about Hobart
Wilgus in there or any of the Dilling

Hello all,
I got a request asking what newspapers were available for the 1930s. So...I
stopped off after work and jotted down all that I saw. It's just a quick
reference list but I thought it might help someone who's been
wondering....could I find an obit for great-uncle Harry from back in 1902, if
one was published on him??
I consider obituaries a great source (though only as accurate as the person
reporting the info) because of the "survived by" and "preceded in death by"
as well as actual biographi
NOTE: when you write a post on the query boards, please put your correct
email address. People have been replying to a couple posts the past couple
days and I keep getting tons of delivery failures from it.
If you want to know when someone replies to your query....you have to put the
right address.
Sincerely
Kathy
PS. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Sandra,
Just show me where to go.

Hello all,
Found a few sites that may be of interest to you.
I've started a page of "freebies for genealogists" So far it contains links
to free forms and letters (in multiple languages) to send when you request
records etc. Free Genealogy graphics, clip art, home pages, coats of arms and
so on and so on.
There's also other "fun" free things like samples, cosmetics, stuff for kids,
pets etc. A lot of companies are on the web and to get customers they offer a
free samples. I'm finding them and listin

Pat et al,
I forwarded your message to the Census Project lady. For all others you can
contact sandie@ix.netcom.com (Sandra). She joined the list, made the
announcement and then unsubscribed the next day. Probably needed to announce
it to all of the county lists.
Be great if we could get more census's up...I wish I had the time, I surely
would do it....hopefully in the spring :)

The McBride's were from the Madison, IN area, then to Indianapolis, so I
doubt that those connect to the ones you know. As to the Rudicil's, that
line has been very tricky for me...the spelling keeps changing around to
complicate things, so anything is possible, maybe there is a connection to
the folks you went to school with. :-)

Hello all,
I have found a really neat site! It has various countries of the world, pick
one to find out the traditions of your ancestors. The one for United Kingdom
is really interesting and tells about the origins of Saint Nicholas, Father
Christmas, hanging stockings, holly/ivy, mistletoe and so on. Also has music
and all kinds of neat stuff. It's just the site Ive been looking for because
I wanted to tell my girls the origins of our own Christmas
traditions....which started way back then.
Feel free
Merry Christmas to all, and many thanks for your help in making the Lake
County Indiana GenWeb site a great place to search and find ancestors!

'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the charts
The lines that were empty would sure break your heart.
The pedigree chart was laid out with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas would know who or where.
As searcher I nestled all snug in my bed
While visions of ancestors danced through my head.

Hello group!
I just started yet another project on my own genealogy website, a genealogy
WebRing, and would like to take this moment to invite any of you out there
who have a website to join in.
What's a webring? Well, it basically is the linking together of similar
websites....like "genealogy only" sites.
Through navigation links found most often at the bottom of Member pages,
Visitors can travel all or any of the sites in a Ring. They can move through
a Ring in either direction, go to the next or pre
I'm seeking information on James H. KING and his wife Elizabeth
(GRAHAM.) KING. They lived in Gary, IN and both died in March 1969.
They owned a Awning and Tent Co. in WI, before moving to IN. They had a
daughter Kathleen and a son James KING Jr. Any information would be
greatly appreciated.

Would somebody on the list be willing to look for a death or cemetery record
for me? I'm trying to determine when and where the following person died:

Her residence in 1880 is the last evidence I have regarding her life
history. In 1898 her daughter, Clara Stringham, was liv

Just signed up for the e-zine - Thanks!
Notice on the bottom of your e-mail that you are researching Rudicil and
McBride. Went to school with persons with this name in the 50's and 60's in
the Schererville/Dyer area. Any chance these are your's?
