Priest To Chant Mother's Requim
A Catholic priest tomorrow will sing a mass over the body of his dead mother in Calumet City.
The priest, Father HIPPOLYTE, of Sturtevant, Wis., a member of the Order of Friars Minor,
is the son of Mrs. Anna CHMURA, 62, who died at her home, 145 155th Place, Calumet
City, Saturday.
Mrs. CHMURA'S body will be interred at the Holy Cross cemetery, Calumet City, following
services at St. Andrew's church.

The afternoon was spent in playing bunco and when tallies were compared prizes were

death; I had not shown her first husband, nor did I realize that the John

Catherine Kiefer) until I checked my notes. WPA marr. rec. shows Sophie
m. to Peter Brown, but he is listed as Braun in several parish records
and eventually the pair shows up in St. Joseph's cemetery records as

Edward L. PUCHAVEN, age 70, of Chesterton, died Wednesday in the Beatty Memorial
hospital after an illness of two and one half years.
Born June 16, 1890, he was the son of Michael and Angela (WOLKE) PUCHAVEN.
On Nov. 25, 1914, he married Mary Frances MACHOLECK? MACHELECK?, who preceded
him in death in 1956.
PUCHAVEN was a retired employee of the New York Central railroad freight office in
Gary, where he worked for 30 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard A. BECKER, Jr., 821 Merrill Street. He was a pupil at the Maywood school.

Sunday was an important day for Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. BUDA, 1303? 149th Street, for on that
day they celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary and also announced the engagement of
their daughter Helen, to Casimer NOWINSKI, son of Mr. and Mrs. William NOWINSKI
of Chicago.
More than 60 guests heard the announcement at a dinner party last Sunday in the BUDA

LIESENFELT Pioneer Is Dead
John H. LIESENFELT, for 30 years a resident and businessman of Calumet City and Hammond, died
last evening at St. Margarets. Mr. LIESENFELT lived at 548 State Line Street, Calumet City.
His health had not been good for some time, but he was seriously ill only two days, suffering a
general nervous breakdown.
Mr. LIESENFELT was born at St. John Oct. 22, 1872, the son of the late Peter LIESENFELT,
who died two years ago.

Mrs. Bernard HAUSCHOP, 411 West State street, died last night. Her death
was due to old age. She had been a resident of Hammond for the past twenty
six years and has lived in the county for 41 years.

Mrs. Martha MOFFITT died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. M. HOOTMAN, in this city, Monday,
Dec. 3. About 5 years ago Mrs. MOFFITT suffered a paralytic stroke and for 3 years she has been
speechless and about a year ago she had the misfortune to fall and break her hip, making her a constant
sufferer until death relieved her.
Mrs. MOFFITT'S maiden name was WIGGINS. She was three times married, her first husband being

Dead Woman From Hammond? Oct. 15, 1937
Mrs. Johanna MAYERS, 35, presumably a resident of Hammond, was fatally injured in Mt.
Olive, Ill., today when her car was struck by the Illinois Central fast "Green Diamond"
passenger train, according to a dispatch received this noon.
The news flash related she died an hour after the accident in a Litchfield hospital and
that she was the only occupant of the automobile. The item further stated she had been
visiting her mother in Mt. Olive.
