Because of my sloppy writing, I am reposting.
Vincenzo Giglia, and Rose Agnello got married ( I guess ) in Sinagra,
Messina, Sicily, Italy. probably around 1890. Shortly after 1900 when
Vincenzo, and Rose, came to America, they had probably 5 or 6 children. I
don't know how many came with them initially, but most stayed in Sicily, for
the time being. As they had enough money, they would send for the oldest
child. This continued, until 1915, when they sent for the youngest child
still in Sicily. That

I have an ancestor Mary "Amelia" Arndt Austgen. She was born in 1828 in
Germany, immigrated in 1851, married about 1852 (location unknown) and died
in 1906.
Is there anyone else on this list researching ARNDT's?
thanks, Debbie

Hello again all,
Ive been a busy beaver tonight...added a few obituaries, about 10 or so
surnames, fixed some dead links and email addresses etc etc.
I also solved the adoption query dilemma. I added a query board to handle the
adoption queries. Adoptions are usually more recent years, and are looking
for living people (as opposed to ones from the 1800s etc) so I figured
seperating the two types of boards would be more organized for all of us, and
may lead to some happy reunions as well.
And letting p
North Township is Whiting, Hammond and surrounding areas. Will look at map
for more details, later, but this gives you a general area.

Here's the answer I got from our cemetery expert Doris Siroda (from the
Northwest Indiana Genealogy Society). We do have that Hessville cemetery and
Paupers Cem on the website, though I didnt see the names listed that people
were inquiring about on the list.

Crown Point is in the NW corner of Indiana, south of Gary and about 50
miles from Chicago. What are you looking for?

Ok I'm sending out a plea for someone here. If anyone has any info on
adoptions in this area please let me know. I know some of you used to be in
this area (the stories last year about Santa landing at Village Shopping
Center).
I am getting enough queries involving adoption that I may make a Lake Co
Adoption info page for people who are searching for that category of
ancestry. Possibly a Lake Co Adoption registry type page that they can post
their info on...though I worry about the legalities.
The lat
I have a couple that were suppose to have been married in Chicago around
1897 but I can't find a record of it. Their first child was born in 1903
so perhaps the year is wrong. I am questioning if they might have gotten
married in Crowne Point as so many couples did. At one time I read where
it was fairly easy to have a marriage search done for Crowne Point. Could
someone please advise me as to how to proceed?
Hammond, Whiting, Highland and Munster. Empress Casino is in North Township,
not Trump or Majestic Star as they are in Gary.

Marsha,
My great grandfather is buried in Potter's Field in Lake County! As far as
I've been told, it's a part of Calvary Cemetery. I did just hang up the
phone with my dad and he thinks that there is a Potter's Field in most
cemeteries. I've never heard that but that's what he heard. Just FYI. I
do know though that there is a Potter's Field in Calvary because that's
where my great grandfather Martin Quinn is buried.

Hello
Does anyone know if there would be city directories for 1874 and 1917?
If there are I would like to request lookups for two families:
Thomas and Catherine Horacek/Horak -1874 and
Thomas and Marie Mracek -1918.
Thank you

Please take into account that the ISTG still does not have ALL the ships
listed on the Internet. - Far from it. So don't give up on that resource.

To all,
I'm looking for anyone who is researching the surname ARNDT. I'm trying to
come up with more clues on where my g-g-grandma came from.
thanks & Happy Hoildays!, Debbie
I believe there is one for East Chicago in the Library for 1918, but can't
say for sure. The other one I don't know about. I am in Va so I can't help
you as far as a look-up.

Hi-
I am looking for any BERKHEISERS and their relatives. Several Berkheisers moved to Indiana from Pennsylvania in the early 1800s. Other possible names in the early family are Johannes and Elizabeth Beyer and Johannes and Susanna Miller. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
