I have been looking at Ancestry.com's 1900 Census Images for LaPorte County,
and cannot find the enumeration district for Springville. On the map, it
appears to be about halfway between Michigan City and New Carlisle, and due
north of La Porte. I also couldn't find New Carlisle in the St Joseph County
listing of enumeration districts. Would it be part of another township?
I am hoping to find some information about the family of Rev. John DELCAMP
who helped to build the Methodist Church in Springvil

Would like more info. on family of Edgar M. HOTCHKISS (age 28) b. CT and wife, Lillian (PITCHER?) (age 24) b. NY who are listed on Clinton, La Porte census - page 323A. Four children listed: Berton H., age 8; Ella M, age 6; Claude A. age 4; & Robert, age 1.
Edgar's occupation is listed as RR Agent & Telegrapher. Would like info. on what possible RR and where in Clinton would he live. Are there birth records for 1876/79? I believe that Edgar married someone else in 1883 in Idaho and would like to confir
Your Hotchkiss familiy was likely at the Alida junction, 1.75 miles north of
the Haskell Station junction, judging from the names on either side in the
1880 census. John Tuley owned 76 acres directly adjacent and SE of Alida.
Martha Reynolds owned 68 acres
directly adjacent and to the NE of Alida. The Reynolds property also
abutted the Tulley property. Martha Reynolds also had a 40 acre strip
running along the west side of the Louisville, New Albany and Chicago
tracks, centered on Alida.

If I recall, there are two films which cover all of LaPorte County
in the 1900 census. If you can't find an actual district labeled
as the village of Springville it would probably be an indication that
the village was ennumerated along with all the other rural houses
in Springfield TWP.

borders Berrien County, Michigan.

I was going to reply to you on GenConnect when the boards came back up, but
now since you posted here, here I go... and hopefully someone else will
catch any mistakes I make or any oversights.
First off, I didn't observe any Hotchkiss on the plat maps I mention here,
but from the 1892 plat maps, the following railroads pass through Clinton
and Cass townships.
"Louisville, New Albany and Chicago RR " run north/south through Clinton and
Cass TWPs. Looks like stations (or runs thr
