Looking for information on Andrew Ray (1789-1872) and possible descendants. According to the census records, his wife was named Jane; and according to the histories of Parke Co., he came around 1822 and ran an inn.

Sergeant Robert L. Trout of Rosedale, Indiana was killed January 25, 1945, while serving with the United States Army in the Southwest Pacific during World War II. He is buried at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines.

Don't know much about the Quaker religion but if they married "out of
meeting" doesn't that mean they were married in a courhouse or by another
religious man or jp? If she was married out of meeting then he would not be
recognized int he QUaker church. Perhaps she decided the church was more
important than the husband? That might be the reason she kept the name but
still may have married him. That would be interesting to find the real
answer to -- good luck.
