Today I went to a few local cemeteries to get fresh air and to learn. These aren't the full data I found. Just wrote down the oldest. Those are the hardest to find. I hope this helps someone. Just wanted to share a little info. Good searching. 1.) Some of these surnames appear in the Peffley Families in America which has plenty of Putnam/ Montgomery county connections in the late 19th to early 20th Centuries. Hello Janet and all, Thank you. I'm sure it wasn't the warmest day to be tromping around cemeteries and trying to write down inscriptions. I also wanted to point out that both Doe Creek and Salem Cemeteries are posted on-line on the Putnam County website at http://www.rootsweb.com/~inputnam/cemeteries.htm. I checked your list against what has already been posted and found only one additional name on your list that was not on-line. I have no idea what Owen County is doing to include cemetery inscriptions

Hi I am new to the list. I am helping a friend search for her grandfather. His name was James Alfred Clearwater. I believe he was born or moved to this county in his early life. I dont know exactly when he was born but would guess around the 1870's. He moved to Arnett, Ellis Co, Ok and married Helen Mabel Doane on March 17, 1913. She was born March 3, 1877.
