James and Prudence Muir appear on a number of Ripley County land records. I am interested in a particular property that they sold to John Webster in 1832. The land records indicate that the property was originall owned by Silas Webster. The Muirs aquired it around 1829 and then sold it to John Webster in 1832. I am

Unfortunionally I have no ancestors to Christian Aufderheide so far. All we know about his European life is that he was a stonemason. His wife, Meta Meyer, was the daughter of casket maker Luther Meyer from Hanover, Germany. Both Christian and Meta had lost their first

Ellenor would not have been listed in 1830 or 1840 census. Only head of househlds were listed in the census until 1850, are you talking in Ripley county? I put in only the huff name and there were none in 1830 or 1840 in Ripley county, I also checked Jennings county since the two are so closely tied, none there either.

Dear Ripley Co folks,
About a week ago, a friend of mine found "John COMMISKEY" on the 1840 Ripley
Co census. His name doesn't appear in the 1840 Indiana census index book at
our local library, so this was big news to me.
I asked him to give me the names of Mr. CUMMINSKIs (COMASKEY COMMENSKEY
McCUMISKY etc) neighbors. This morning, I checked the BLM site for original
Ripley Co landowners for the following surnames:
Smith
Barnheart
Reed
Robinson
Cole
Brown
Terrell
East
Cravens
Richardson
Hughs

Donna, I checked the 1870 Indiana Census Index during a lull working as a
volunteer in the local gene library... We have the film, but there is
seldom a reader free when I am, and our 2 readers are pretty crochety.
1870 INDIANA INDEX shows
Paul Strickland 70 m.w. NJ Ripl Shelby 355 233
no Ezra/Esau listed anywhere in state
Fanny Strickland 50 f.w. IRE RIPL Shelby 355 239
... the widow perhaps? - she lives very close to Paul.

I am sending this message to the Ripley County, Indiana group because
I know there is a large number of Bvrst families there. Since my
ancestor was orphaned in 1850 at the age of 5, it is possible that one
of these families raised her.
My great-grandmother is Katherina Bvrst/Burst. Katherina was born May
21, 1845. Her mother's name is unknown, her father is possibly Jacob
Bvrst. Supposedly, she was Catholic.
In 1868, she appeared in Ripley (Brown County) Ohio as a sponsor for a
