1. STEUBEN - 1885 History and Landowners [1]
This is not an ad. It is information to any who have already sent in for the 1885 History of Steuben County, Indiana and the Original Landowners of Steuben County, Indiana. The two new publications from the Steuben County Genealogical Society are almost ready to be mailed out. Be looking for yours if you have ordered soon. There had been a delay in the publishing of the 1885, however, that's been handled and they are closer to being sent out! This 1885 is indexed so well that it is a real treasure!
2. Throne Children [1]
Hi, I'm new to your list because I don't think I have any relatives in Indiana but I have a problem and I'm hoping someone can help me. My THRONE relatives were from Ohio but may have lived in Indiana. My GG Grandfather had two children that died when age two and seven. Their names were Florence THRONE b. 1860 d.1862 and Alex THRONE b. 1856 d. 1863. I've found a newspaper article that states the following (the ages are different but I believe that it is talking about the same children) Mr. Frank THRONE
3. Missing a Male Hoosier Ancestor, 1830< born >1846? [1]
If you're missing a male ancestor that was born between 1830 and 1846, it's poosible that he was one of the nearly 460 Civil War soldiers aboard the Sultana steamship that exploded on the Miss. River, 7 miles N of Memphis, TN on 27 APR 1865. Indiana was exceeded only by Ohio and Tennessee for having the most soldiers aboard. While 2 in 3 Hoosiers aboard survived the ordeal, the rest never made it home. You can search by surname for your ancestors at the following URL: http://www.rapidnet.com/~greg/Tom/In
