Hi,
I have heard that there was once a ferry crossing from Vevay, Ind. to Ghent
in Carroll County ca. 1936. Does this or any other ferry crossing exist
today, and where are any ferry crossings?
Are there any histories of the ferries that operated in Carroll County, Ky.
or in Switzerland County, Ind.?
Thanks in advance for any hints, tips, or suggestions.

This is one of the best map sites I have seen:

Play around with the images. You can keep enlarging them to get a better
view. Some great Indiana maps!

There were ferries at Ghent and Warsaw, Kentucky until the mid-1970's, when
a highway bridge was constructed over the Markland Dam. There had been
a ferry in operation at Ghent since the town was founded, perhaps before.
The loss of the ferry cut off the historical ties between Ghent and Vevay.
I have seen newspaper articles giving a history of the ferry at Ghent. I
have copies somewhere. I believe there was a teacher in Vevay who was
gathering information on Ferry history. I don't recall her name
I am trying to locate a will or probate record for William Sherman Buck,
died August 04, 1844 in Patriot, Switzerland County, Indiana. Any help
would be appreciated.
