I recently obtained a copy of a death record for the sister of my 2nd great grandfather from the Switzerland Co. Health Department.
It shows that Jane Windhauser Andrew (1833-1911) is buried at Spring Branch Cemetery.
This cemetery isn't covered in Wanda Morford's book of cemetery inscriptions, but I'm guessing it's located in Craig Twp., as that's where she lived, according to the census reports.
I'd like to confirm its location and wonder if this particular cemetery has ever been inventoried as I'm sti

I have a RILEY CHASER from Switzerland Co., that I am having problems
finding. I noticed you have RILEY as a surname and I wondered how my RILEY CHASER
got that for his first name. I know he came to Missouri in the 1860's or 1870's
with the SHAFFER and REAGAN families from Switzerland County, but can't ever
find him in a census or elsewhere. Tried all variations of spellings as I
don't really know if CHASER is a good spelling or not.
Any CHASER or anything that might be like that in your f

Hello,
Is the Old Bethel Baptist church near the Bethel Methodist Church? I was
told that the Bethel Methodist church was turned into a mechanics garage. The
Bethel Methodist is pictured at this web site. Scroll down to Bethel Methodist
Church.

Can anyone tell me the significance of "Bethel" in both church's names?
My Grandmother, Lola, gave me the picture of the Methodist church.
Larry,
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I can't begin to tell you how important this information is. You are truly a kind soul!
Judy

I would guess that before 1920 that up to 50 percent of all burials did not have tombstones. It was not just children. I once checked one church record from the early 1900s that noted burials against marked graves in the church cemetery and found a surprising number of adult graves were not marked.

That makes sense, B
Val,
I don't have a Riley Chaser. My problem is finding the grave of Indiana
Riley Hinman, female, B. abt 1850 to William (b.1808 in England) and Louisa Riley
(b. abt 1814 in Indiana). Indiana died 21 May 1881, in Switzerland County, but
I can't find her grave. Her husband was Joseph Arnold Hinman. He was born
abt 1845 and died from old Civil War injuries on 16 Jul 1877. Their youngest
child, Lillie May was placed in the Indiana Soldiers and Orphans home. The home
had no further information on Ind
I think it is listed as Old Bethel Cemetery. This was the cemetery of the Old Bethel Baptist Church that was the predecessor to Spring Branch.
