They had daughter named Leura SPARKS.
Leura SPARKS married a James BALFE (son of William BALFE & Sarah ?) abt.

Leura SPARKS BALFE gave birth to my grandmother in a log cabin at St

shortly thereafter.
I assume that Leura is buried at St Mary of the Woods area. My

Steve,
Have been reading your Pound-Kester communications. Do you have a Kester listed that married a Lucinda (Osborn) Sparks? Owen Sparks and Lucinda were my gg-grandparents. After Owen died in 1858 in Vigo Co., IN I then found Lucinda and children in Coles Co., Ill. Others who have researched this line have her marrying a man named Kester. I have no first name. Anything you might have would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Pat

Carol,
I have the Family Quest Indiana Vital Records which includes Birth, Death,
and Marriages for Indiana. Family Quest extracted the information from the
WPA records. I just do lookups when I think I can help someone. I'm
awaiting some more census records that I ordered and when they arrive, I will
update my lookup sources on the INVigo web page.

What is the best way to get wills for Vigo Co., say 1913 and earlier?
Will the courthouse do this? Or do I have to contact the archives, if so, which one, and How?

Carol,
I went ahead and checked everything I have. I found no Phillip Wool(s). No
Wools deaths in Wayne County. No Wools/Wagle marriages. I also have a FTM
CD with Early Kentucky Settlers and didn't find them there either. I did
find a few Wagles on the Early Kentucky CD with marriages in the 1820s. The
only ones in KY were in Madison County in case that helps in your research?
Sorry,
Sharon
Amy, I can't answer your question but it caused me to wonder if there is some kind of index of
wills for the county?

Thank you very much, Sharon. George H. who married Mary Embs is my great
grandfather. Henry was their son. This clarifies the spelling of Mary's last
name so that I can further research that family. I believe the parents
immigrated from Germany. Where would I write to get a copy of the marriage
records? Floyd County Court House?

It's all pretty much up in the air right now. No one knows exactly when
everything will be torn up, but the bids were opened last week, and should
be awarded in Sept., then the work will begin.
If and when the front entrance is torn up, it would be about a block to walk
around to the other entrance.
Don't worry too much yet - keep checking back to see how things are going.
You may be able to visit before anything major happens.

I have been reading all about SPARKS and dug madly through my paperwork to
find a SPARKS recently discovered. Perhaps a connection can be found.
My Marvin H. PAINE b. 1832 d. 1919 had his daughter Mrs. Laura SPARKS
mentioned in his newspaper obit and she was the informant on his death
certificate. I am wondering if any of you are possibly connected? She had a
sister Mrs. Clarissa BELL also of Terre HAUTE and brother Benjamin F. PAINE.

I have two death certificates, of Moses T. Andrick and Christine ANDRICK Blevens. They died in KY. Their death certificates say they were buried at Hull, but neither is transcribed there.
Does anyone know where the Funeral Home records ? O. Gillis Funeral Home, located in Terre Haute, IN might be located?

There is a Lucinda Sparks who married David Kester in Clay County, March 31,
1862, Clay County Bk 5, Pg 54. I'm sure it's the one you are looking for;
if you search the 1900 census on line at INCLAY, you'll find Lucinda and
Owen's son, Samuel Sparks is there; his age and place of birth for parents
match those in the 1850 census for Vigo.
Ironically, Owen and Lucinda Sparks were living next door to Paul and Naomi
Kester in 1850 in Vigo County, Linton Twp; maybe David is a relative?
