Don, Would you do a lookup for me in your census image for a John Wylie and family for the year 1900 Lucas County Iowa. I would greatly apprecate it. 2. Re: [IOWA] Initials on Grave Markers [1]
Have you considered checking with a local library in the area to see if a Genealogical Society in the county has published a Cemetery Book for that particular cemetery? If so, it might have a page toward the beginning of the book which lists a key to abbreviations on the headstones. If none has been done for that particular cemetery, check other Cemetery Books to see if any of them list the inscription in which you are interested? This might be the fastest way to find the information you seek. -

Am seeking help once again. John HUX b. 1862 [Iowa] married 12-12-1889 IA to Florence CARR. Can anyone verify this? Is there any HUX's listed in the 1970 census for the general area around Washington Co? Hi Steven, Thanks for the response to my Geanealogy signature less the Dillons. Actually, Lindley Carl Dillon, b. ca 1885 in Kansas to Charles and Nancy Dillon (perhaps Charles is Charlotte's brother?), was my step-grandfather. My Dad didn't know he wasn't his real father until he went to join the Marines and Grandma had to fess up that his real father's name was Nelson. And ... sadly ... that was ALL she would ever tell him. Anyhow, if you believe there may be a connection between L. C. Dillon and yo

23. [IOWA] Re: 1900 index Manson E. Miller [1]
Dick, Thank you, thank you! The 1900 & 1910 census references you provided must be him, even though his age seemed a little off compared to the 1920 census, but I'm probably reading it wrong since it's so easy to do with microfilmed records. I had been looking in all the wrong places, and this provides so many research clues for me! Shirley P.S. Are you repenting in advance here?!
