I am trying to find the death date and place of my Gtgrandfather, Thomas
Wedeman(Weideman). He is on the 1870 census with his dau. Phoebe and family
in Lodomille, Clayton Co. I can find nothing on him after that.
Now I have found that his other Dau. married Gilman Stevens, son of
Greenleaf(Greenlief) and Betsey Stevens and that they all had lived in
Clayton, Deleware, and Lynn co's. Gilman and Family are on the 1880 census
for Linn Co. but I have not been able to find anything else on them in Ia. I

Seasons greetings to all!!
Has anyone found a good website for old newspaper articles, obits?? I have found two different website, but neither one have the Iowa paper I am searching for. My great grandfather Lincoln P. Bennett was one of the organizers and first bank President of a bank in Valley Junction (West Des Moines), IA and I am assuming there has to be some sort of articles regarding him and his business, but so far have come up empty. It would have been in the very late 1800's or early 1900's. I

His wife said that he was killed by a train, but we are doubtful. Would

Thank you Adolph and Bev.
I would bet that you can get in touch via website to the Iowa Genealogical

engine just by typing in the name. Might be worth a try. Sandy Ch
I am absolutely stumped. My g.g.g. grandmother was Rhoda Shaffer, b. 1797,

Dear List.
I am looking for someone to get me a copy of an obituary.
Seth Marshall Smith, died 26 May 1907 (or May 28, 1908)
He is buried in the Grant cemetery, Montgomery County.
His stone says 28 May 1907. He died in Emerson, Iowa-at daughters.
Would someone be able to look this up, and copy for me?
I will reimburse for expenses.
Thanks so much.

My wife received some genealogy work on her family and some of the
people were listed as being buried or born in Smithland, Iowa. Does
anyone have any idea where this town use to be? It doesn't appear on
the newer Iowa maps. Smithland, Iowa appears very often on the
'Stratton' family. Could this town have been in Monona County or
Woodbury County?
Thank you.

I'm searching for gggrandfather Edward T. Davis, born in England. ggrandfather James was born 24 Dec 1859 in Davenport, IA. I found an Edward Davis in the 1860 census living in Cleona, Scott County. James 1 year old was living with him. Don't know for sure if this is my gggrandfather. I found a hamlet in England called Rushton James. My ggrandfathers name was James Rushton Davis. I'm wondering if Edward named his son after the town where he was from?? Would appreciate any help. Thank You.

Also the Obituaries for November are completed and posted. We now
