I am seeking the parents, siblings of NANCY BARRETT, who m JOHN SCOBEE, SR, 30 March, 1797, Clark Co, KY. Both are my gggrandparents; I believe she died in Monroe or Ralls Co, MO, Oct, 1829. John died 30 June, 1851, Monroe Co, MO. Any help appreciated. THANKS, RAY IN MAGALIA, CA.
This reminded me of my first experience in Dublin searching records. I knew
my ancestors began in Abbeyfeale, Limerick. However the first two hours I
could find nothing with the proper first names. Then it hit me--Dionysius was
the Latin used for Denis; knew that from Church History classes. All the names
on the baptismal records were Latin or a corruption thereof so I went back and
found everyone. Wasted 2 hours but still gives me a smile.--maryann

Hi Jean,
The song is "Scorn not his Simplicity" and it is on the "Irish Tenors Live in Belfast" CD. I love the Irish Tenors also and Ronan is one of my favorites. The title of his book is "My Life 'til Now". He is an amazing man and is not only blessed with a beautiful singing voice but he is also a doctor and an athlete.

Mars Opposition happens about every 26 months and the next Opposition occurs on November 7, 2005. It will be a very nice object to view in the telescope. It will be about 20 arc seconds across and it will be very bright. The prime times to observe it will be between now (early am) and Feb. 2006 (early to late evening).

There is a James Shanahan b 1850 in the 1870 census in Wakeman Township,
Huron County, OH. His occupation is list as Jour Cooper and he seems to
be living in a large rooming house of hotel. Among the other roomers
are Michael Shanahan, 25 and David Shanahan, 27, both als Jour Coopers

Kathy,
I agree- some of the promises are misleading ,at best. But, I have still
gotten my best information through Ancestry. For example, the Emigrant
Savings Bank: it only covers 1850-1883, and none of my ancestors seems to
have had an account there- but in doing lookups for others, I have "struck
gold" quite a few times. At best, I have found names of parents- including
mother's maiden- and where the parents are, names of siblings, year of
arrival, name of vessel, port of arrival, county of origi
Hello listers,
Can anyone tell me how I might access the indexes to the Irish Emigrant Bank
records please? I don't know whether I will be lucky enough to
find any family in these records, but I would like to try. Family
name SHAUGHNESSY, arrived in the US c 1852.
any help appreciated.

Thanks Pat...I do believe that the second Shanahan (James) you mention is
the one I was looking for. I never thought that he came over as a child,
but it seems to fit since his sister was named Eliza. Everything seems to
fit with the CastleGarden site, except the child Eliza is listed as 19 not
12. Could this be a mistype in either record? There is no county listed,
only Liverpool, and now I must try to find the county, if I can. Thank you
once again. This is really a breakthrough for me!
