1. [Irish in Chicago] Website updated with many photos, documents, links, names, census look-ups,etc. [1]
Hello list, I've updated my website with not only my own family information, but also some data that I've put together to hopefully help others. Here's what you'll find. 1. Of course my family info with copies of documents such as those that I found at the National Archives in DC in my great great grandfather Louis KIRCHER's (born in Weinsberg, Wurttemberg) Civil War Pension files. Included in those papers are sworn statements made by friends to aid in the pension eligibility research. 2. I

For those on this list who may unfamiliar with the CMC Record project, I would like to invite anyone to visit it at www.cmcrp.net. It is a special project of the Ireland Genealogy Projects. Its main endeavor is to collect and post 19th century genealogy records from users who have found them in their research and wish to share them with the genealogy community. If you have any such records, we would also invite you to contribute them on any subsequent visits. Thanks, Tom Cleary

5. [IRISH-IN-CHICAGO] genealogy help for the Swedish side of your family/ nn help on my Hayden family [1]
Hi, I have noticed that some emails in the past have mentioned that they also have a Swedish side of their families. I found that Genline's Kathy Meade will be at the Arlington Heights Public Library on January 14, and is offering 30 minute sessions of help on finding Swedish ancestors in Sweden using the Genline online database. She is very knowledgeable and helpful. I have signed up for a 30 minute session that day. _http://www.ahml.info/evanced/lib/eventcalendar.asp?pointer=&num=0

7. Re: [IRISH-IN-CHICAGO] Marriage Licenses Cook County 1900-1920 [1]
Folks, ( pilot.familysearch.org) Good news! pilot.familysearch.org has about 66% of the Cook County Marriage Licenses (1871-1920)indexed and with images that can be downloaded and converted to any format you chose by adding the correct extension (i.e. .jpeg). They are concentrating on the years 1900-20 now since the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index ends in 1900. Eventually the site will be from 1871-1920. Go and enjoy! It's free. Consider joining the indexing project as a thank you fo

Margaret, that was a great posting. I went to the site and viewed all of their collections. Found one for WWII Draft Registration (Fourth Draft)(1942) and found 4 records for my Reardon & McBride research in that collection. Note these records were men born on or after April 28 1877 and on or before February 16, 1897. So they were not young men. The records I found contained info that I did not have. This is a great site. Thanks bunches, Carmen-Pittsburgh ----- Original Message ----- From:

Dear Listers: Do any of you have access to GenealogyBank.com? I found the reference below to an article in a paper called Inter Ocean published in Chicago on February 27, 1878 that I would love to read. My great grandfather, Robert Alexander McClelland, graduated from Rush Medical College in 1878 and this article came up when I did a search. The title and date are listed below. If any of you can help me, I would be very grateful. Thanks! Alice Roche (amroche1@aol.com) Sons of Esculapius. Graduating Exer

Alice, I don't know where you live but if you are near the Harold Washington Library, they have the films for the InterOcean newspapers. You could check with them and maybe someone there would look up the article and send you a copy. Hi Bonnie, If you're not much into Irish culture, I'm not sure there's a lot to interest you at the Center, other than maybe the geneology sessions. They do have a nice pub :-) And a nice library, but the focus is really on classes and programs. Here's the website if you want to take a look at what they currently have to offer: http://www.irishamhc.com/ Another option is the upcoming Irish Fest, it runs from July 13-15, and would be a way to get a feel for the place without feeling like you've
22. Re: [IRISH-IN-CHICAGO] Brennan Packing Family [1]
Hi Mary, It's always hard to know about these variant spellings on a surname. There were Brannons in Ireland and a disproportionate number of them seem to be in the North, mainly Antrim . There were very few (Brannon) in areas commonly associated with the spelling Brenan, Brennan, Brenen, Brennen--ie Kilkenny, Kerry and Mayo.
