I'm not exactly sure how that works either although I have been contemplating trying it out as I have been searching for a family vault and graveyard that was abandoned centuries ago and doesn't seem to be off any road and probably in the middle of a field with of a herd of cows. This vault is noted on a Discovery Ordnance Survey Map which include the bearings (longitude & Latitude) that you would need. Of course a private home is not likely to be on these maps but if it was near a church of graveyard o
Cathryn,
You mentioned your other lines were Barrett and Twohig.
I have both of these in my lineage also. The Twohigs were from Cork,
parish of Ardfield and Rathbarry and I have some information around the
1810 -1832 time period. James, Daniel and maybe Denis are the given names.
The Barrett's are from Mayo and I still do not have a good Irish connection
as yet.
I would appreciate any information on the Twohigs however.

Hello, Kaye. My Millington aunts from Scotland married into the Hannah and
Stewart families. Helen Millington married James Stewart in 1876 and her
sister Lily married John Hannah in 1888. The Millingtons lived in Glasgow,
where the Hannahs appear to have been from Ayr and Stewarts from Glasgow as well.
My Hayes relations are interesting in that Michael Connolly married Mary
Hayes and they emigrated from County Cork abt 1891. John Joseph Connolly
married Alice Murphy in 1901 in Boston. Al

Hi-
I paid Thomas O'Leary to look up the Whelton family
and did hear back from him, on very fancy stationary
with no results, and he was recommended to me by some
source that I have forgotten... I suspect he checked
out church registers in places where he was looking
for other family....my Wheltons are loaded with Johns
and Davids and he never checked the church in an area
where the Griffith register listed both a John and a
David Whelton. I wasn't happy and decided not to send
more money...my feeling was t

in advance. Using all caps for surnames is acceptable to family history

Are you sure the surname is KILLERN? Could it be Killeen or Kileen?

Today, as we remember Armistice Day, I remembered coming across a list of
World War Two Army Enlistment Records 1938 - 1946. Series contains records of
approximately 9 million American men and women who enlisted in the USA Army.
The database is at http://www.freesurnamesearch.com. You need to scroll
down to the date 2006.10.25 and click on. This page will only be available for a
few more days.

I was deep into Parish research while in Ireland last month, but am
unclear on Parish names in proximity to Blarney. Can some fine Irish
person help me out?
I researched the parish of Blarney whish was called Garrycloyne, I
believe (without my notes right here) and I wanted to move next door to
Grenagh. While I did find some Callahans and Callaghans in Blarney, and
even a Callaghan Callaghan!, they weren't the ones Cathryn was seeking.
My next step was to research Grenagh, where Call Callaghan's Sullivan

I think that ' Curly ' was a shortened form of Cornelius, a pretty
common first name in Cork, and ' Norrie ' is Hanoria or Hanora. I
also have spent a few days recently trawling through the microfilms of
parish records for christenings and marriages for Cork, but in the
more rural areas of south and south-west Cork, with frustrating
results. Even when you know the name, have a birthdate, and know even
the townland that they lived in, you STILL cannot always find them in
the record

Dear Listers.
HENRY PHILLIP PRESSEY with his wife ADA nee BYLES and their children
settled for a while on Spike Island where at least two sons were Wardens
in the prison there.
Henry was the Harbour Master at Cork as he had the qualification as a
Master Mariner. He also ferried boats to and from Spike Island and
Cork. They must have been there for a few years as my mother grew up
and married my father (army) in Queenstown now Cobh. Henry, Ada, my

Sorry to butt in. I ran into our local Family History Center person this
morning and during our conversation he said that all of the records would be
available on the internet in the near future. Records are being transcribed
now. I didn't think to ask which records and/or if it would be all records.
Maybe someone knows what and when.
Thanks

No, there are no films 'on-line' . The restricted films which are not
circulated to Family Centres are vaulted at Lake City, Utah.
But within the Anglican communion.

You can also write ahead of time to the Mallow Heritage Center. I wrote
about a month before a trip to Ireland and enclosed a stamped (Irish),
self-addressed envelope. (I suppose you could include an international reply
coupon if you don't keep Irish stamps on hand, or perhaps you could ask them
to fax a letter to the library). Permission came in the form of a letter,
allowing me to use Cloyne records in the National Library for a month. I
gave the letter to the folks at the desk who kept it on file.
Only Cananaughs I know came from Cavan, but it appears they are from all
over, and like Kelly, spelled a number of ways.

Thank you, Judy. There were at least 2 and maybe three Gardner
families baptising children at St. Mary's, Portsea in the 1700's. I
have a few of the records and cannot make heads or tails out of what I
have. Francis Geary Gardner, father James, was bap. Mar 16, 1747. I
don't know if the records will show the mother's name or not, but I
would love to know the names of his brothers and sisters and his
mother's name. Actually, being really greedy, I would love all the
Gardner records for Portsea for the first

Hello,
I descend from a Pharaohs daughter named Scota, I am pretty sure about
everyone in Ireland and Scotland has heard of her thru history. What I am wanting
to know is, who is her ancestors and if there might be any images online of
where she is buried and if she had any hieroglyphs anywhere too. Any help is
appreciated.
