Dear Carol,
I have a Samuel BROWNE - sometimes BROWN. Also, his son Thompson BROWN lived
in Dublin for a few years after his marriage in 1867. There are others who I
am still trying to place.
Here's a clip from a bit I posted on my web site:
"... the address of Thompson BROWN is given as 60 Dame Street, City of
Dublin, Parish of St. Andrews and his father's name is given as Samuel BROWN
(Gentleman). Thompson's profession was also given as "Merchant". This ties
in with other information: Thom's Direct
I'm relying on my memory as I am away from my family history notes at the
moment but I seem to recall a Lizzie Brown (Dublin) who was the mistress of an
Anthony Hawkins (a barrister). I think they had three children.

Jill
Teresa,
My great grandfathers' name was William Burdock, who we believe married a Mary Kavanagh. I am planning to go to Dublin in September/early October 2007. If you can wait that long I will carry out a search with the info you have supplied.

We have in our family a tinted photograph and on the back is the wording T Cranfield & Co, Publishers of Her Majesty in Ireland. By Appointment. Colourmen. Artists. Fine art repository and photographic galleries, 115 Grafton Street, Dublin. The age of the subject - if it is who we think it is - places the picture about 1850-52. Does anybody know much of the history of Cranfields? With a royal warrant, presumably a well-placed firm? Again, presumably it would be a reasonably expensive exercise to do busi
Can't help with Our Lady Star of the Sea church, I'm afraid, though
it's where my brother-in-law was married. You could try writing to the
church with your enquiry, but I think it would be a real long shot for
them to answer you. They might be more inclined to do so if you
included a small donation for their time spent in looking up the
records for you. Even then, it's a 50/50 chance whether they respond
or not.
You should be able to find death registrations for most of your
ancestors who died after

GRO birth records only begin in 1864. This might explain why the
reference you have for William Kavanagh is incorrect.
Do you know if your Kavanaghs came originally from Wicklow? Mine do,
though I have done very little research on this side of the family to
date.
Best wishes in your hunting!

Hi List, long time since my last post! (sounds like a confession )
I have a Thomas Anthony McALLISTER and Elizabeth Mary O'KELLY/(KELLY) marriage in 9th April, 1924 at St Andrews Church in Dublin. I have the GRO index copy, but would the copy from the Parish Register hold more information than I have on the GRO copy I wonder?
Would it be possible for someone to get a copy of the original register from St Andrews? Or, would it be easier to write to the Church itself to see if they are able to send me a

Hello:
This is my first posting to this list. I am researching a Jane RICHARDSON
who came to Canada from Richmount, County of Longford, Ireland sometime
around 1830. Mrs. Richardson settled in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Mrs.
Richardson gave the first bell to St. George's Church in Guelph, Ontario in
the year 1833.
I have found information here in Canada that a Jane RICHARDSON, died on
September 4, 1863 in Upper Leeson St. Dublin, at residence of daughter. Her
husband was the late Achmuty RICHARDSO
There are several BROWNS in my family web site in Dublin. Go to:
http://Mywebpages.comcast.net/Fottrell
Click on OTHER SURNAMES and scroll down to BROWN. Make note of date and go
back to site and click on FOTTRELL Genealogy. Go down to date you listed.
Good luck.

Thanks to Debby for the explanation as to why we can not get a cert for
William looking back at all the ref's that I copied when at the GRO 3yrs ago
the earliest is 1864 so it must have been a slip up on my part.
Thanks also to Sean for his offer of checking the info when he goes to
Dublin next year, I have contacted him of list.
Thanks Teresa

I believe that my family probably attended St. Mary Star of the Sea (AKA Our Lady Star of the Sea) in Sandymount, Dublin. I am hoping to learn if anyone knows if it is possible to (1) see if the family members were registered members of the church and (2) see if the church might have baptism, marriage or death records --- perhaps even a burial record.
According to what I've read it looks as if the church was built between 1851-58, so that does somewhat limit what information I might find. This is the inf

Carol,
Sorry, I do not have any ancestors from Dublin with the name Brown, best of luck in your future endeavours. The ancestors in Dublin I am after info for are William Burdock(my greatgrandfather on my father's side); and Patrick Bracken, (greatgrandfather whose daughter married my grandmother on my father's side).
If you find anything, would appreciate an email, thanks and good luck
