I live in Maryland, USA and my Irish tradition was tempered a bit by the
German half of my ancestry. We had turkey and sauer kraut (very limited area
of Penna. and around Baltimore for a German tradition of that combination)
and the celebration was always climaxed with plum pudding. However my mother
never made it-she bought Crosse and Blackwell. At one time there was a
plant in Baltimore and it was easy to get but now days it is imported and
more difficult to find but there must be other Irish st

Since he was born in 1889, his birth would be registered. If you cannot
personally search the records in Dublin, I suggest you hire someone to
do it for you. You might want to try some of the links in the taglines

I think there might be an "h" in there, but the tall part of the letter was
left shorter than should be, and appeared as an "n". There is a Doohulla in
Ballindoon civil parish, out on the west end of Connemara, two miles SE of
Ballyconneely.

Greetings All,
I live in New Jersey, USA east coast. I grew up in north Jersey, were the
snow is just as high as your car !!! Not, only did the snow make Christmas,
it was at the dinner table. Were we would all make a toast, saying may we
all be back this time again next year. Family being together makes
Christmas.
What I would like to ask is, how do you make plum pudding??

Hi all,
Christmas in Australia is smack in the middle of summer. Temperatures can
reach over 40 degrees celsius but usually hover between 28-35 degrees. I
know the early settlers stuck strictly to their traditions where they could
but I think the weather has tempered this somewhat.
Most people put up trees. Some go for the plastic ones, others use plants
in pots. I always insist on having the old-fashioned pine branch. I adore
the smell of pine through the house and couldn't care less about the pine
Can anyone tell me if there is a booklet or other source for the
Catholic cemetery at Ballinasloe? I'm hoping to find a burial for
George & Frances (Ormsby) ANDERSON, sometime after 1875, perhaps as
late as 1910. These are my 2x great-grandparents, and I know that the
name is not a common one in the area. I'm hoping to eventually locate
death records for them, to help determine their parents and where they
came from before Ballinasloe. (Family stories say Scotland, but.... :)
Thanks!
