Connie,
I've been away, and just got to this. The Cloonmoylan seems really strange,
in front of Tuam. Cloonmoylan is a townland of more than 1500 acres,
straddling the parishes of Ballynakill and Tynagh in Leitrim barony, Co.
Galway (Galway has a surfeit of Ballynakill parishes, so we need to define

My great great grandfather, Martin O'Neil, was from Drumgriffin, Co. Galway,
which is in the parish of Annaghdown, Archdiocese of Tuam. I know it is near
Corrundulla and Annaghdown, and possibly Gortroe.
I've look through at least ten map books, searched the internet, and cannot
find a map showing the location of Drumgriffin. I've gotten hits on the
internet for people listing that they lived or live there, but no statement
where it is located. I've ordered the Ordnance maps for the area, but

Hello Josi, Eyre Square, and Skeffington Arms Hotel, are in the City of
Galway, if you put "Galway" in your search engine I am sure there will be a
map.
Eyre Sq is also officially called John F Kennedy Park in honour of the
former U S President who was made a Freeman of the city, during his 1963
visit.
I was recently in Eyre Square and listened to to
some South American music on a Sunday morning, very pleasant !

My neighbor's daughter is interest in learning more about her Irish ancestry. Although I am a genealogist, I do not do Irish research. So I am hoping somewhere here can help us.
1. She has written to Dublin trying to get a birth record of her grandmother, Margaret Mary Tracy, without results. She has a span of dates for her mother's birth year (22 Apr 1909-1914) and she believes that is why she is not getting a copy of the birth record. She has her grandparents names. She has sent them copies of all

Hi all
Over the past few years Carnaun School, Athenry, County Galway, has worked on genealogy and history projects which have been of interest to this mailing list!
We have researched and published "Carnaun School 1891-1991" for our school's centenary.
We have researched the Genealogy of the Lambert families of County Galway and have published "the Lamberts of Athenry"
We have contributed to and published the first 7 editions of "The Athenry Journal".
Have put up a website on out work on "Irish Emigration
I have a Catherine NAUGHTON in my wife's family tree. She was born in 1825
in county Galway (don't know which parish), parents Patrick and Mary
NAUGHTON. I do not know any more about her parents, or if she had brothers
and sisters. She was married about 1845 to Patrick NOLAN in Galway, had two
children in Iteland (Hanora and Bridget), and then the immigrated to
Philadelphia in 1849.
Sorry, but I cannot find out any more about the NAUGHTONs in Galway.
A match?

Hello Galway Listers,
I've just subscribed, following the discovery that my gggrandfather, Michael O'SULLIVAN was born in Clifden, Galway, c1830. His parents were John O'SULLIVAN and Mary MCCUE (that is the name on Michael's death certificate, I've never seen it spelled like that previously). John was a farmer.
Michael came to Queensland, Australia around 1849, and married Elizabeth McGrory, from Pettigo, Fermanagh in 1855. He and his two brothers-in-law established the first Hotel in a small town wes

What book are you reading? I have never seen a specific list but there is a
great deal of general information in two books about the History of Clifden
written by Kathleen Villiers-Tuthill. They do include some lists of people
based on census information.

important savings may be made.- We made it our business to look over the

FAIR OF THE GREEN
The fair of the Green, on Saturday last, held out better prospects to the
farmers than usual in those bad times. There was a great show of cattle, the
demand was brisk, the purchasers numerous, and the prices very good- in
fact, everything that was worth purchasing was bought up. So much for our
country friends.
