Sande,
I'm surprised your can't find Ballylanders on your map. Even my old, junky
Hammond Atlas of the World from the 1960's shows it . It's in the far SE
corner of the county, about 3 miles SW of Galbally and 10 miles ESE of
Kilmallock. It's a townland, a small town and a civil parish.

My experience last April was to go to Dublin (BUSY CITY) to National
Library and ask to go upstairs to pull and view microfilms of the
individual parishes (hope you know which) you need. then scan the years
one by one, which can obviously take a whoile. As far as I know, this is
the only way to reasonably get data frorm those records. My attempts to get
anything from the with writing to parish priests of each church has been a
negative one.

I do not believe the SS release the Dqate of death. What I have always
gotten is a copy of the SS certificate which basically gives you the info that you
apparently already have. It gives name, address at time of applying for the
card.....parents name, place of employment, age at time of applying.

Well, I have Sheahans in my line, too. My Grand-aunt Bridget Galligan, 24, married Thomas Sheahan, 32, from Ballybricken, in the parish of Hospital/Herbertstown (bride's parish) in 1913 - his father's name was Patrick Sheahan. The sponsors were Michael O'Brien and her sister, Mary. How many children came of this, I don't know, but I managed to correspond with a granddaughter Catherine Sheahan, about two years ago, who lives at Castle Farm, Co. Limk - a few miles south of Ballybricken.

Hello everyone,
This is my first query for information on this list. I will be visiting Ireland this June and want to spend some time researching the DRYDEN lines. I have information the Drydens were located in the Townland of Ballylanders in 1848. Does anyone have this line? Or information on which Dryden's these were? Does Ballylanders still exist? I cannot locate it on the map. Apreciate any and all information.
Thanks,
Sande in Georgia
I visited Sts. Peter and Paul parish in Bruff in 2002.
Father Costello was very helpful - if you are going
to visit, just drop him a note ahead of time. There's
also a Bruff website - I don't have it anymore, but
I'm sure it's easily found by using google.

Does anyone know what the current surname, FOX, would translate to in the
original Irish? (-see, I'm learning, I didn't call it gaelic!) Several years ago
a lister suggested I keep the Irish name in mind while researching as it may
still be used in some form and I cannot find her translation or her email.
Thanks for any help.

Hello Everyone,
I did get a death date from the SS department. I had to write in to the
freedom of information officer to get the information. I wrote a letter
explaining that the man I wanted the information on was my grandfather and
that I could prove my relation to him as well as my mother would have. I
also put his parents names, birth and death information and every child they
had listed too.
I got back a very nice letter with a computer print out. Bottom line was I
did get his date of death not loca
I have redesigned the IGP County Limerick website so it will be easier
to navigate. At the end of last year, I started the town(land) section
and yesterday, I added over 50 town(land) webpages which include basic
info such as civil parish, poor law union, barony, Catholic parish &
diocese. Also included are available CoI and Catholic records with
their National Library of Ireland and LDS (when available) film
numbers. There are sections on each page where you can add your
surnames, links, records

Could someone kindly give me some advice or help ? On the Scottish
birth certificates of two of their sons my ancestors give their marriage
details as " 1849 May 16th . Limerick, Ireland ". The father is John LEWIS and his
wife is Winifred EGAN. In the 1881 census of England Winifred says she was age
45 and born at Shannon.
How do I go about tracing the place of marriage in 1849 ( I cannot
see it in the civil records ) so that I can explore my Irish ancestry ? Any
suggestions greatl
Maryann, I am not sure if we have ever talked or not. I too have a
great great grandfather named John O'Connell, son of Jeremiah. My John
was born in Ireland in 1825, emigrated to Massachusetts in 1846,
married Mary Horan in Lawrence Massachusetts in 1850 and lived in
Andover Massachusetts until his death in 1896. Jermiah's wife's name
was Bridget. Does anything sound familiar?

Daniel, My father was a member of F Company, 4th Battalion, East Waterford
Brigade of the IRA. In 1961 he applied for a medal, struck by the Irish
Government for those who had participated in the struggle for independence.
I don't know how you would determine the beginning of that struggle but the
dates usually used are 1916-1922. For some the struggle has not ended, as
all of Ireland is not united.
We did receive the medal, about 4 weeks after his death in 9/61. I
treasure it. I don't know how to

Would some kind soul give us a clue as to why...?
These were all for different people..
