If he was married in Limerick, your best move would be to check the Irish civil marriage indexes (that began in 1864) for a few of years both sides of 1885 at an LDS Family History Centre for James and his bride ( presume you know her name). 4. Margaret MULCAHY [1]
Margaret Mulcahy was born June 1864 in Limerick, raised by her cousin Mary Ellen Fitzgerald. Her parents were Martin and Margaret Mulcahy. She died in Manhattan, NY on Dec. 27, 1943. I believe she had a sister named Brigid, maybe more sisters. She married John Skelly in 1891. Does anyone know this Margaret Mulcahy? Connie

Les, You can go to the Sean Ruad site and find the Parishes in Kilfinnane. Some are Kilflyn, Darragh, Kilcoraig, Glenroe/Ballyorgan, Garryarthur. Who are you looking for? Received today by snailmail from 3rd cousin in Ireland a copy of: Second Statutory Term Land Law Acts Rule 125 dated Nov. 25, 1894 with Application by Tenant or Landlord to Court for Fair Rent, on the back Schedule of Improvements Claimed. I found this item in the PRO Catalog and hope someone can explain the meaning of this transaction. Scope and content: Office of Public Works, Ireland. Release of forfeiture on lands owned by Miss K. Heaphy at Newpark, Co. Limerick, under the Landlord and Tenant (Ireland) Act 1870. My Heaphy grgreats + eight children - the youngest about 9 - left Newpark in Parish Effin about 1842-43. Julian, I have come across many Mulcahy's in the Kilcolman, Monagay, Newcastle West, Ardagh areas of Limerick. My ggg-grandfather Daniel Mulcahy married a Mary Cregan about 1828-9. Daniel was from Monagay but they settled in Kilcolman. The area is called Carrons now. Daniel's direct descendants still live in the same house. As far as I know they didn't have a daughter Mary. I only know of Daniel's sisters Catherine and Johanna but it is possible he had brothers also who could have a daughter Mary of
