What people must understand is some messages that contain virsus were not sent by the person listed. The creeps that sent out the virsus will attach a real name and address then send a letter with a virsus. It is just not a good idea to open attachments. This is most important if you do not have a virsus protection. You might think you know the person but you must be very careful with all attachments. -----Original Message----- From: Don Kelly [mailto:donkelly@grovenet.net] Sent: Sunday, November 25, 2

Here is a brief biography of Michael Joyce, M.P. Squarerigger, Pilot, Harbour Commissioner, Mayor of Limerick, President of the U.K. Pilots' Association, and a founder and first chairman of Garryowen Rugby Football Club. Wow!, a busy guy, indeed. "He was the most remarkable of the Shannon Pilots. He became involved in politics when he was elected to the Limerick Corporation in 1899. He was elected M.P., for Limerick in 1900, and retained his seat for 18 years. He nautical expertise was so greatly apprec

7. Re: [LIMERICK] -D Digest V01 #298 and Sheehy/Buckley, Ardagh [1]
As I don't subscribe to the Digest, I can not relate to the email in V01 #298, nor did you provide a quotation from it. Anyway, there are no memorials to the Buckley name in Ardagh Catholic graveyard, but there are two headstones (different plots) inscribed: "In loving memory of John M. Sheehy (Glenastar) who died 11th April 1925, aged 58 years. And also his daughter Katie Sheehy, who died 11 June, 1936, aged 33. R.I.P. Erected by his wife and family " (Note to above - one can check the Civil Birth Regis
8. [LIMERICK] An additonal comment on West Limerick Families Abroad [1]
I have been deluged with requests for lookups, so it may take a while to get a response. I just realized, however, that one important section for US researchers is an appendix that is NOT indexed. It is a portion of a list of advertisements to the Boston Pilot requesting information on "missing friends". Since it isn't indexed, I am unable to check it. However, the total list can be found in 7 volumes "The Search for Missing Friends: Irish immigrant advertisements placed in the Bost Pilot", ed.
9. RE: [LIMERICK] Robbery [1]
Padraig I have been following your various email replies to questions from the list and would like to add one of my own. My family is named CURTIN and comes from Templeglantine in Limerick. This is just north of Abbeyfeale. I still have family that works a small dairy farm there. I am interested in obtaining data about the area especially from the Famine era. Can you suggest sources? Probably has to do with me changing the utilities so messages will go to the list and not the sender. I sent a notice to the list that this was being done as a result to the vote, but didn't see it post. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA, listowner http://www.connorsgenealogy.com

This time, the subject line above is correct. In that digest, we had a letter and a thread that went back and quoted from NINE previous letters. I think that is a new rootsweb record !! My scrolling-wheel nearly caught fire from spinning so fast and for so long. For me, at least, 'twould be nicer if the postings concentrated more on the recent thread history. Since I have the tithe lists on line, I will no longer do lookups so if you wrote to me today, please check the website. What you find there is the only info I had. By the way, the tithes did not mention wives and children. It was not a census. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com

Afraid I was too brash with the "I know they were in Hampshire, England in 1812-1814". In fact I have only inferred some companies must have been in the Portsmouth area then from various r

I agree. If you must quote an email, just copy and paste the part you are quoting. Your email will get read by more people. One thing that really bugs me is when someone quotes the whole digest...I am an almost retired school counselor. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com
