20. Re: townland maps Barney Carroll [1]
Hello Everyone Following my request about the history of Barney Carroll I was told that because of bickering amongst the parishioners the church was moved to another location. It was dismantled and moved lock stock and barrel and reassembled in another location. Does anybody have any information on the why and when, if in fact this actually happened. Kind Regards Bernard Carroll, Wollongong, NSW. -----Original Message----- From: Nancy Reeb To: IRL-MAYO-CLAREMORRIS-L@rootsweb.com

>>Costello is also one of my ancestral names (via my great grandmother). It's origins are Norman French. << I'm sorry for my apparent mistake, Mary .... every Irish history that I have ever read has said that the Norman family's name was deAngulo or deNangle and that when they settled in Ireland they changed their name, completely changed it, to MacCostello, which was more Irish-sounding.
