year from www.familysearch.org and go to IGI.

Hello.....apparently there was an article about Compton Grange, Brook in the
Society Journal #48 Page 7. I don't know the date.
If anyone has a copy of this issue I would love to know what it says about
Compton Grange as that is where my Grandmother and most of her siblings were
born.

>G'day Ron,
I have thousands of IOW COOPERs here on my database, but unfortunately you
probably need to go back one generation further before we can connect you
in, as Henry Alfred does not appear. I myself descend from the Freshwater
COOPERs but we've just about got most of the Island sorted out now.
I also have a pretty good file on the SMITHs as well.

Hi Terri
This may have been the 304 ton steam yacht FAIR GERALDINE? If so she was
on the Royal Yacht Squadron List 1880 - 82 owned by the Rt Hon Lord Otho
Fitzgerald. She was registered at Leith. The RYS does not have anything
in the way of crew records but there is a leaflet about yacht crew on the
rys website at http://www.rys.org.uk which might help - for example you
might perhaps be able to find a crew list for the vessel which would

Greetings to all on the mailing list. I am a new member of the list and am
seeking information on my Isle of Wight ancestors. My
greta-great-grandfather, Thomas Deaken was born around 1836 and was from the
Isle of Wight. He had two brothers I am aware of, John and Peter. Peter had
a daughter Elizabeth who died in 1936. My great uncle paid for her funeral
and transport of her remains back to England from America for burial. He
also paid for restoration of the headstone in the cemetery where Eliza

Hi!
I just wanted to post this little bit of information in case someone was looking for this person. On the 1891, at 8 Arundel St., Bootle, there is a lodger at the home of my gr. grandmother; his name is Charles BURINALE (the last name was a guess), single, 17, Ship's steward, b. Ventnor, Isle of Wight.
I just thought that someone out there might be looking for him.
Like I said, the last name was difficult to read so it could be spelt a little different to the way I wrote it.

Hi Cynthia
It sounds as though you need to document your great great grandparents'
marriage and her birth as first steps, and then you may be able to
establish who 'Sir Foster' was. He must have been Sir Somebody Foster -
you may be able to identify him in a reference book such as Burke's or
Debrett's Peerage, Baronetage and Knightage of the period. Medical sites
such as that of the Wellcome Institute website might suggest other
directions for researching him.
I am only aware of this local physician on t

Noted in passing that one William Walder was Riding Officer at Arundel,
Sussex, according to the Customs Establishment List of Midsummer 1795.
Being employed by the Customs and later by the Coastguard is one means of
ancestors having arrived 'out of the blue' in a port.
Hi all
I have just started out investigating my family tree and wondered if anyone had in the course of the investigations found any information relating to the BUNDY/BUNDAY's formerly residing in Shalfleet, IOW.
Spelling of the surname varies in the 1901 and 1881 census information, but I believe them to be the same family line, as birth years, wives names and occupations are the same).
Information I have gathered so far:
John BUNDY (born 1823 - redlynch, wiltshire - a brickmaker) married Elizabeth ?
IHello Shirley
Probably the best place to start would be the Isle of Wight record office at
Newport or library maybe to start with the 1841,1851,1861,1871,1881,1891 &
1901 censuses.
Perhaps the record office have some clues anyway.
Good luck.
Hope this helps,Linda & Tony
