Would some kind soul who has access to the New York Passenger Lists, 1851-1891 on Ancestry.com do a lookup for 1890, Gaetano Granata(o) and family (Antonia/Antoinette, Giuseppe/Joseph, Calogera/Catherine, Lucy) I would appreciate it. I did a search and it came up with 40 Granata's. Thank you very much in advance.

Rosalie,
Try Castle Garden. This was also a port of entry before Ellis Island. Do a search on the web for Castle Garden and see if that helps.

Looking for additional information on Lucy Granata, born December 1888 in Italy, immigrated to Manhattan, NY in 1890 with her family. I found her in the 1900 Census in Manhattan age 11 with parents indexed as Gaytana Grante (Gaetano Granata) 51, Antoinette 48, sister Catherine 17, brother Joseph 15. Then found just her parents (Granato) with their "niece" Maggie which is really their grand daughter Maggie Faulisi - in the 1910 in Landis Township, Cumberland, New Jersey. I'm assuming she married - she would

I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me in my brick wall research of my "Granata's" of New York/New Jersey. I have just received my great grandmother's death certificate - Catherine (Calogera) Granata (though I can only read bits and pieces of it - not a good copy) and I now know that they immigrated from "Palmaro" (Palermo) Italy and I can now order the microfilm to "really" start my research.
Thanks again,
Karen DiGiacomo

I'm now wondering if Palmaro was not a misspelling of Palermo on her death certificate - I just did a Google search and found a "Palmaro" in Genova? (how it's spelled on death certificate) and a "Palmero" or is it just Palermo misspelled? Any suggestions/websites to search?

Does anyone happen to have this book "Italians to America Lists of Passengers Arriving at U.S. Ports, 1880-1901 Vol. 4 --July 1889-Oct 1890" that would be so kind to do a look for me? Thank you in advance.

Hi Karen: I don't know where your Granato's are located, but on my
grandfather's Petition for Citizenship papers in Buffalo, New York his Affidavit was
witnessed by a Jacob Granato, 1197 West Avenue, Buffalo, New York - dated August
1, 1927.
The Granato families in Buffalo were close to my family. I did not know
them. I only heard the name mentioned in my earlier years.

I would appreciate a look-up in the Italians to America CD for the following
person. I found him in the Ellis Island database, but unfortunately the
link is to the wrong manifest page. In Ancestry.com, he comes up as Fuleo
Dicoio. I believe the correct name may be Falco Dicoio. I am also
interested in anyone named Dicoio [Di Coio], as the name is extremely
uncommon, and so most likely an ancestor.
Nme: Dicoio, Juleo
Arrival: June 05, 1893
Age: 34y
Ship: SS Fulda
Port: Ge
I found some of my relatives (I think) in the Ancestry.com immigration
lists. Now that I have the names, the Port, the Ship ect...where do I go to
find out more information? Or is there any more? Thank you in advance, Wendy
