Hello,
The letter I sent was to the Archivio di Stato di Livorno and they replied
that they couldn't find any information. I "assumed" if they didn't have
any information, I should give up. But, I have another address for the
Comune di Livorno and from what you have stated, I shall try there.
Thank you, Eleanor

Anna, thank you for your help and knowledge. My last hope is to find a
birth record so we will know who his parents were [their names], no one has
a clue.
I'll keep searching and try your suggestion.

Hello,
I didn't know that you could send a letter to anyone other than the
"Archives" for information. My paternal GGrandfather was not Italian, but
born in Italy. His father was Prussian and mother "supposedly" an Italian
Contessa. I had written to the archives, through the help of a site and a
form letter, and received a prompt response that they couldn't find any
information on my GGrandfather.
He was "supposedly" born 21 December, 1846 in Leghorn. He was "supposedly"
born Catholic. I put th
Anna,
Thanks for your advice. I don't think that here in Florida we have district magistrates. Perhaps you meant in NY? I will give it a try.
Thanks again,
Julia

ITALY-L-request@rootsweb.com
and in the body of the letter put only the word unsubscribe, no need to put
anything else.
Hope this helps.....

Hi,
It is my understanding that most of the birth records are stored at the comune level. You may want to write to the comune to see if they have more information on your great-grandfather's birth.

Hello, am trying to find any relatives of 2 brothers and one's wife, who
came to US from Frontone, IT. That was the home place entered on the ship's
manifest.
Originally, their destination was PA.
