As Nancy's told you, I just recently stumbled into understanding that I am partly descended of the Ivey clan (through Mary E. Ivey and her first husband, Maranda Bell). I welcome the opportunity to learn from established genealogists more about the ancient roots of my family, and especially appreciate finally finding something of such great value online after so much fruitless searching--my father's family doesn't talk about his father (Irvin Bell, Maranda and Mary's son), and it's been awful hard. Thank
Good to hear from you, Nancy! Hello to all the Ivey cousins, and welcome
Douglas!
Douglas, John Fergison Ivy and Sarah "Ellen" Brashear are my ancestors, also
(gg-grandparents). My g-grandmother was Dora M. Ivy, who married George. W.
Huffman in Crawford Co. Dora was Mary E. Ivy Bell's sister. I have a ton
of info. on both the Ivy's and Brashears, which I'd be happy to share with
you. I don't know if you are aware that Maranda Bell died in 1911 and Mary
remarried James Garard 9 Sep 1914 in Vigo Co. D
Hello Nancy and to all the Ivey/Ivie/Ivy cousins......
Don is the DNA donor from the Curtis Ivie line of Illinois. So far we have
not been able to get any participants from your James' line. I have been
wondering about Dick, as well. Haven't heard anything from him in ages. I was
hoping that he or Walter Ivey would be interested in participating. It would be
helpful to get another male descendant of Curtis involved as well, but so far
no luck!. We are waiting the results of Don's DNA upgrade to
Hey Douglas and all you Ivey family researchers!
Douglas, its actually Nancy, Thomas is my husband and the vanity site is

can't begin to tell you how thrlled I am to know that I have helped you
answer a genealogy mystery with my website. It is in sore need of updating
but I am thrilled that it lead you to us. A few years ago we set up this

I called Dick the other day because I was getting worried about him. He &
Agnes are fine. His brother Charles (that was at the Ivey reunion) has
passed away. Dick has had knee replacement surgery plus he hasn't been on
the net any lately. He said he's going to get back on the net & do some
catching up so maybe he'll be able to read about the DNA project. Can you
send me all the info about the DNA project (like where & how you participate
& how much it cost) so I can send it to Walt?
I also hav
I have been following the DNA testing for genealogy with interest. We
have had my husband tested in conjunction with a Williams surname
project on familtreedna and then I saw the following posting on
GENEALOGY-DNA-L@rootsweb.com so I went and looked at the Ivey surname project results at

If a pair (or better, a couple of pairs) of male Ivey descendants of OUR Curtis AND our James would take the test, this would be an
Hello all,
Cheryl...that is good news about Dick and Agnes, sorry to hear that Charles
passed away. I am so glad you called Dick. Hope you get your database up and
running again soon! About the DNA....I sent Dick and Walter email regarding
the DNA and so did Jerry Lee Ivey, who organized the Ivey family DNA project
and is the web site administrator. I can ask Jerry to add you to the Ivey
family DNA mailing list and you can also see the results on the testing that has
been done. And if you have a
Hello Sue...
Great hearing from you!!! I kinda felt like I did fall off the face of the
earth...I don't like moving and we did it twice in six months!!! UGH!!!! I
also found out about Richard Gardner's line, but until I get my FTM program
straightened out I can't get to the information. I'll see what I can find
out about the Union Baptist Church & cemetery. I don't think that Church is
still going, but I will find out. Do you want pictures of the tombstones??
I guess I need instructions of how to down
