Hello As places are sometimes named after people who lived there I thought it might be interesting to see the different Jakes Place names across the USA. I was able to find these at the two GNIS sites listed below. I have included all Jakes listing. I'm sure that some places where named after a guy with the given name Jakes as opposed to the surname but you never can tell. You might want to look more closely at any areas listed on here which were close to where your Jakes lived. I have links to two sites

Lamonte Jacques Athens Emmett Lamonte Jacques, 82, of 935 Baxter St., Unit 3, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002. A native of DeKalb County, Mr. Jacques was a son of the late Emmett and Jewell Brownlee Jakes. He was an engineer with General Motors for 25 years and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.
