Hi all!
Does anyone know the origin of the name Mahala or Mahalia? It seemed to
be a very popular name in the 1800's. Several of my ancestors had that
first name.
Thanks much.

Hi Susan-
Thanks for your information that you provided regarding Joshua James. I
have learned more information regarding my James family. My relative
Catherine Amanda James was born in Havre de Grace, Harford County,
Maryland in 1863. Three years later they moved to Indiana and then when
she was 14 they moved to Nebraska. You mentioned that your James family
was in Ohio at the time when Joshua James was born in 1811 and that
there was another James family that migrated to Indiana and then to NE.

Green and wife Tinney were in 1850 census in Monroe Co., AL. They
also appear in land records there. Green seems to have died before
1860, because Tinney appeared in 1860 with son Burrell B. and his
wife Sarah Jane Humphreys James in Clarke Co., MS.
Burrell and Sarah Jane were the parents of Elizabeth Fidelia James
who married T.J. Hardee in 1880 In Clarke,MS. After 1860, there is no
trace of Burrell and Sarah, nor of Tinney.
Please help me find these elusive ancestors.

Just got through scanning two tin type photos one of which I believe to
be Frank and Jesse James because that is what my late grandmother swore.
The other one I am not sure who he is but the photo was taken at the
sametime the other one was taken. Anyone on the list that might know for
a fact who they could be if they are not the James Boys.
Thanks,
Jeffery

married prior to JAMES W. JONES, but have not been able to prove this
one way or the other. She is listed in the 1860 Scott Co
