Who were the parents of Sallie JENKINS b. 1875 LA
She married in 1888 in Hardin Co., TX to Jim (James ?)
R. WEST b. 1861 LA. You guessed it, I don't know his parents
either.
In the 1900 census for Tyler Co., TX, Sallie and J. R. are living
as boarders with William Jenkins b. 1865 MS. Possibly he
is an older brother.
William Jenkins wife is deceased, she was born in TX and
the names of the children were: (first letter undecipherable)
possibly Danniel, Jackson, Emma and Sam Jenkins
The children of J. R.

My Jenkins line is in Dane County, Wisconsin from 1850 to current, then
in Bangor, Maine for 1826 to 1850 and continuing, in New Hampshire
(mostly Lee, NH) from 1826 back to the 1600's. Anyone in the same
areas?

There were two unrelated (as far as we can tell) THOMAS JENKINS families in
Lauderdale County AL circa 1820-1850. Jean Shanelec researches one of these
families and Amy Gilreath researches the other. A brief summary of each follows:
Thomas Jenkins #1 married Mary Miles Eppler/Apler, probably in VA or TN. She
died in 1822 and he died in Jan 1823 in Lauderdale Co. AL. In his will,
Thomas asks that the children's grandfather, John Epler, act as their
guardian. Children:

Hi Sami:
I don't have your Edward JENKINS' ancestors but if you're interested in
Sarah PARRENT, I do have some info on her line backward. If you're
interested, it might be better to e-mail me direct, instead of putting it on
the JENKINS list.

I don't have any info re: Herman Jenkins. But my wife's ancestor, Reynold
Jenkins came from the Isle of Man (just off of the coast of Wales) in 1632 to
Berwick, Maine.
He was a Quaker. It is possible that Herman could be a descendant. Most of
the family for 2-3 generations live in Maine. But soon they were spreading
all over the US.

Toni,
Saw your reply of 6/20/97 . You indicated your name Jenkins came from Junkin.
I am researching the name Jenkins also. I am trying to find information on
Elvira Jenkins who lived in Harrison Co., Ohio in the 1860's. Elvira married
Phillip Jolley. They had a daughter named Ella Mae who married Clarence
Junkin. Clarence and Ella Mae were my great grandparents.
I have traced my Junkin line back to Joseph Junkin who was born in Ireland
and came to this country in 1735. He settled near Carlisle, Pa.

Am trying to track down an article which told of the torturous journey,
mostly by foot as I recall, of John JENKINS of Luray, Shenandoah Co., VA to
Clinton Co., OH and later on to Champaign Co., OH. Did find reference to the
article. It was in a hstory of Champaign Co., OH. It mentioned John JENKINS
and Mary "Polly" BURKHOLDER brought their 11 children with them. I know 2
were Morgan L. JENKINS and David JENKINS and I think another may have been
Joel JENKINS. The following are some JENKINS marriages fr
Jane (probably MOSS) b. abt 1837 MS
m. by at least 1864, probably in MS
____________ JENKINS, probably b. in MS
In the 1880 census for Tyler Co., TX, she is divorced and living
with Sarah MOSS, a widow, whom I suspect was her mother.
With Jane are the following children:
William JENKINS b. May 1865 MS
Adline JENKINS b. abt 1873 LA
Sarah JENKINS b. Jan 1875 LA
Any ideas as to who the father of this family was?
