Does anyone have information on William Johnson, son of David William
Johnson and Hester B Johnson (maiden name). William would be my half
grand Uncle. I am trying to find out any information on David
William Johnson who was my great grandfather. I am from his second
wife Susannah Martha Rose. David was born in Ohio about 1811, lived
in Indiana, and died in Putnam Co, Missouri, approx 1878-1880

Has anyone seen any information on Descendants of Stephen and Alcie Dodson
Johnson. Stephen is one of three brothers who all married daughters of
Thomas "Second Fork" Dodson, the other two being James and William Johnson.
I have seen listing of descendants for James and William, but not Stephen.
My ancestor is James T. Johnson, who was born about 1800 in Hawkins County,
Tennessee. He married Happy Goen about 1829, who is the daughter of William
Goen of North Carolina. James is enumerated there in the
I am interested in finding out any information on Albert J. Johnson either ancestors or descendents. The information below is from the 1880 Census in Philadelphia.

My 5 x great grandmother was Margeurite Johnson, married to William
Solomon. Birthdate I have for Margeurite was c 1782 - my records
indicate that she was the daughter of John Johnson of Mackinac/Drummond
Island/Sault Ste. Marie Michigan - sister was Jane who married Henry
Schoolcraft. Does anyone else have this Johnson family in their tree?
Just curious to hear from any other Johnson relatives - I have lots of
information on the Solomon branch, but very little on the Johnson.
Sound familiar to anyone?

As I recall from some files, there is William Dodson, brother of Thomas
"Second Fork" Dodson, who married Winifred Johnson on 30 Nov 1763 in Faquier
County, Virginia. Winifred was the daughter of a Jeffrey Johnson. Known
children listed as James, William and Winifred.
Cheers, Michael

Randy,
My ancestor, James T. Johnson, was born according to U.S. Census records
about 1800 in Tennessee. Census records also show that all his children
were born in Tennessee, most likely, Hawkins County, where he is listed in
the 1830 and 1840 Census. In 1849, he moved his family to Jackson County,
where he is shown there in Carr Township, Jackson County, All but one of
the known children went with him and are listed in that 1850 Census. The
one missing child is a female and I have not been able t

I have been looking for infomation on the decendants of Thomas Johnson who
is in the Hawkins Co census.
His son Stephen died before 1851 and left 3 known sons, Abner, Anderson and
Thomas who were mentioned in Thomas' will. All information we found said
these boys were born in Indiana but that was all. Yesterday I find that
Abner was born in Clay Co Indiana, I suspect the other 2 were also. In 1850
Abner and Thomas were back in Hawkins Co. I have not been able to locate
Anderson in 1850 although he shows up

While people are looking into connections in Virginia I would like to post my
family again and see if it rings a bell. I do not know where in Virginia,
Elijah Johnson was born. According to later census records, he was born
about 1795. His wife's name was Nancy A., or Anna. Both were born in VA
according to the 1850 census in Morgan Co., KY. Their children were:
Elizabeth b. abt. 1822
Ellen b. abt. 1829
John P. b. abt. 1824 ----children's names} - Richard
George
Name spellings and their recording varied. More than a century ago, not
everyone could spell and so their names were recorded as the clerk
thought they should have been spelled without any knowledge of how the
rest of the family spelled the names.
I believe it was left to the census taker to judge race by skin color as
much as anything else, and he based it on shade. Skin colors aren't
always consistent within a family, white, black, indian, or mulatto and
the differences are often more striking in the dar
