Hello everyone. I had previously thought some of the problems on these
lists were gone, but with people subscribing all the time, I guess they
will never go away. This is a reminder of some of the things that I have
decided I will try to send out every few months...for now on the subject
will be "from the listowner...how to post".
Basically, in the past 2 weeks, I have had to redirect about 50% of the
posts that are going to all my lists because people are sending them to the
wrong address. Right now I
Hello list, I got 3 suggestions for the Kern list on the word of the week
and all 3 seemed really good so for the next couple of weeks, I'll just
chose the next 2 in the order they came in. If you have a suggestion, feel
free to send it and don't worry if it seems selfish, that is way we
connect!:) hehe. So, start your modem and post your Kansas related
Ke(a)rn(e)(s) lines and info. If you don't have a Kansas related line, but
would like to post anyhow, feel free:)

Rootsweb lists that exist (over 5,000!) wouldn't be here. They have done
so much for all of us, and I am sure some are you are very aware of what
they do. All the things like the genweb archives and everything are housed
at Rootsweb and without them, things like the censuses in the archives,
mortality schedules, etc., wouldn't be accessible to us over the compu
Hello everyone, I have a suggestion/thought about supporting rootsweb. I
received a message earlier from someone who had sent that cookbook thing to
about a dozen lists and a couple more dozen people and in it, she said
something that made me think...If everyone who received it just donated
even $1, there would easily be a couple hundred total for rootsweb....what
do you say we try that?? I have 7 lists and 2 of them have over 100 people
on them (Black and Bradford) and the other lists combined would be m
Ok everyone, no one really sent me a suggestion for the word of the week
for this week and it's already Wednesday. If you have ANY suggestions, let
me know. Also, for those that are new to the lists, I just wanted to tell
you WHAT the "word of the week" is all about.
In the past, these lists have been very inactive, weeks could go by with
not one post, and I wanted to get activity up. I started a "program" for
the word of the week where I give a word/phrase, such as John or North
Carolina, and anyone w

Hi Trish:
You can write the North Carolina State Archives, 109 East Jones Street,
Raleigh, NC 27601-2808, and request a copy of John KERN's will. You have
the Will Book and page number from my last e-mail. The Archives want
$8.00 to send you a copy so you can include it with your request and save
time. Being in Wisconsin should not be a hindrance to getting most of
what you want in North Carolina. If you have a branch of the LDS

Ok everyone, we have had a bunch of new subscribers to ALL the lists.
Because of this, I would like people to start posting their lines. Unlike
almost every list, I don't discourage Roll Calls because I know they have
helped me. (Please make note that MOST lists will UNSUBSCRIBE you by hand
if you start a roll call, so keep it on these lists please) I am sorry if
you don't like Roll Calls, and if you feel it necessary to unsub because of
it, well, that's your loss. I DO have a couple guidelines for Roll

I hope that I did not confuse you with Conrad and John KERN. Conrad and

Judy,
I believe that I can help you. My information states that Susannah (not
Sarah) Kern, the daughter of Joseph R. Kern of Adams Co., Illinois and his
wife Elizabeth Smith, married Jeremiah Leach on October 07, 1855 in Houston
Twp., Adams Co., Illinois. I show daughter Emma Leach who died in Missouri

Joseph's parents were John Kern and Catherine Kaylor from Westmoreland Co.,
Pennsylvania.

I have recently been able to connect to Fleming KERNS b. abt 1814 in Pa. He
had three sons, Lloyd b. 1844, Henry b. 1842 and William b. 1839 all born
in Columbia County, Pa. with Mary Huey. After her death he married
Catherine?? and had Harriet b. 1846 and Martin b. 1849. Fleming is such an
unusual name, I was hoping that someone might have him or the Fleming
name(perhaps it is a family name/maiden name)in their line.

Hi Susan,
Ever since you gave me the name Nicholas KERN as the father of my Frederick
KERN , I spent most of yesterday looking for the Nicholas KERN that might be
the father of Frederick and I think I found him, or at least his family. What
I did was to combine information from several sources on the internet and a

The 1790 North Carolina Census lists three KERNS in Rowan County,
Salisbury District. However, the name is spelled KAREN in the census;
Adam KAREN, Conrad KAREN, and John KAREN. Adam KERN is the son of Conrad
KERN and did not have a daughter named Catherine. John KERN was the
brother of Conrad KERN. I have sent you this information in case you
want to look it up yourself.
