I am seeking information on the families of John F. KERNS and
George W. KERNS. They are listed in the 1880 Census as living in Holland
Township, Shelby Co., Illinois.
I believe that they may be brothers of Catherine Maria KERNS
HIDDEN DUNCAN shown living nearby with her husband John DUNCAN and children.
Catherine is my GG-Grandmother and was born in Ohio in 1844.
After moving to Illinois, she was first married to Benjamin HIDDEN.
They had a daughter named Anna B. HIDDEN and possibly other children. When
This story has been forwarded to several lists, but is so touching that I
feel everyone should have a chance to read it. Anyone of us could have been
in this situation and with the exception of the gunman himself, everyone
involved has acted in such wonderful ways. It can't be easy dealing with
any crisis, but these people and those who graciously came to their aid have
come through with flying colors.

NOTE: PLEASE READ THIS MESSAGE IN ITS ENTIRITY!!!
This week's word is "Peter" :) What this means is in your line, if
you have found any ancestors (or maybe not your ancestors, but with the
surname of the list) named Peter, post it to the list.
FOR NEWBIES: The way the "word of the week" works is I throw out a
topic and if someone has a line that falls into that topic, then they
are *supposed* to post it, but not everyone really does. For instance,
this week, if you have any info on the surname

Greetings, list.
A few weeks ago I posted a message throwing out a net for 9 brothers of
one family. Unfortunately, no responses seemed to match. However, I
have found that there were at least 5 brothers in this family: Freidrich
(aka Fred), Gustav (aka Gus), Emil, Christian (who died without issue),
and Ludwig (aka Louis, may have been named Johan Ludwig). Members
of family resided primarily in MN and WI ca 1870-1950+. Parents named
Christian and Caroline. I am a descendant of Friedrich.
