My gr-grandmother was Mary Jane (Kearns) O'Connor. It's spelled this was on her marriage certificate and on her death certificate, but on her birth record, it's spelled Carnes.
3. [KERN-L] KERN(S)/KARNS/KARNES/CARNES.... [1]
In researching my family tree I have found many spelling variations, such as Kern(s), Karns, Karnes, Carnes..... I even found a census transcription where they had it listed as REINES. (I guess this error was due to the handwriting). Whenever I post queries, however, I use the KERNS spelling since this is what has been used for about the last 100 years. So, I think this is the "right" list for all of us researching this surname. :-) With this in mind, it's probably time for me to repost my line. I
4. [KERN-L] Word of the week: your line [1]
Lists, I am soo sorry for having neglected the lists for sooo long. (about a month now). In November I was in the middle of midterms and right now I am just starting with finals this Friday. For this week's word of the week, we are doing something that has not been done for quite a few months. We ha

I'm forwarding this message because the person who originally sent it, sent it in HTML format and smartlist won't post messages in html. So let this be a note to everyone else, this is probably the only time I'll ever do this, but if you send a post and get it back because it's in html, turn off your html. If you are sending from Netscape or hotmail, and any other web based email accounts (yahoo, netscape.net, etc.) I know there is the option to turn if off. From: carolyn@inetone.net Hello, Sandra
