Just a note to update my address. I had to close ConPanna and reopen with a

I just got some more information last night from a long lost cousin (pardon

Interested in the Edward Kern listed in your message.
would you happen to know if his middle name was Gustav?
I have a great grand father that I am trying to find out information on
also his parents. They came from Germany or may be the area in Alsace-Lorraine
is also possible. His first wife was Louise O. Ludwig and they lived in
Detroit, Michigan
Reply to David E. Kern,
It is interesting that you should ask about the name Gustav in
connection with Edward Kern, because. The Edward Kern born May 23,
1872, who was married to Sarah Elizabeth Clegg, named his second
daughter VIOLA GUSTINE KERN.
Sarah Elizabeth Clegg was related to my husband, and I have some
information and pictures on the family.

Thanks for the information, and quick response. I will
take a look and see if any of the info fits. No one in
the family talked about him after he left my Great Grandmother Lizzie O.
(Ludwig) Kern so I am starting from
scratch. Thanks again. I will forward any new info I have
on to you as I get it.

I have no come across an Andrew and Mary Kern yet in the history. I am
only working on two sons of John and Juliana Kern which are John and Christian.
There was another brother named Daniel. Now maybe in his family there were
an Andrew and Mary. So far no luck on finding his family history yet. Sorry.

Greetings, Kern listers.
During my research into my KERNs, I have yet to see any references as to
where they came from in Europe, beyond the horrendously vague terms
"Germany" and "Prussia." I'd like to solicit feedback from those list
members who have found ANY references to origins of their Kern families.
Maybe this will give me some clue as to places to look. Cities or
towns would be great, but Even a province would help. I'm also curious
as to distribution of this name in Prussia. Where was i

Upon arriving from Germany my Kern ancestors moved to the Ohio area for
several years and then moved on to Nebraska.

Valentine Kern is buried in Moorestown Cemetery. My cousin in Michigan
sent me a picture of his headstone. I also have a picture of Valentine
in front of an elevator that he invented for the World's Fair. He became
sick prior to the fair and could not attend and the person sent to represent
him ended up with the patent. I also have a picture of Ella's headstone.

Hello everyone! I apologize from my apparent absence from the lists.
I have been reading the messages to the lists and helping people
behind the scenes with problems they encounter, but this was by far
one of the hardest semesters of my scholastic career and God really
blessed me with the C+ when it should or could have been so much
lower. I'm taking one day a week this next semester to devote
entirely to genealogy, either the lists, doing lookups for others, or
my own, so I should be more active in the
