There are many Kern folks in and around Montgomery and Moore counties, NC. Amoung the still living (as far as I know he is still living) is a John Kern. Other male names are Dan, Theodore, Moody (Moody moved to Indiana and died there), & Richard. Richard seems to be the main name handed down from father to son for many generations. My great, great grandfather Richard Kern died in Moore county at the start of the Civil war. I haven't done enough research yet to find out how they got to that part of the wo

Aha! So this is a "John" week! During a recent trip to SLC, I confirmed an Alfred John KERN in my fmaily!!!! He was born in September 1887 in New York City.
