Hi everyone,
I am looking for any information on my gg-grandfather Jacob Franklin Kerns.
According to his death record he was born 8 June 1844 in VA to John Kerns.
Jacob married Mary Kerr Bowersox in Hancock Co, OH on 23 Apr 1874. Jacob
died 15 Jan 1916 in Hancock Co, OH. My grandfather remembers that Jacob
served in the Civil War. I have not been able to document this yet.
I found a John KEARNES and family living in Blanchard Twp Hancock Co, OH in

Sorry, I don't have any info on a George Kerns. Sandra, I'm looking for
Carnes also. My grandmother changed the spelling of her husbands name from
Carnes to Kerns, she didn't like the way they spelled their name.lol
I've also seen it spelled Cearnes/Carns. All of mine seem to be in WV, but
I've heard rumors that they also owned land in Ohio, but haven't traced that
out yet.

Just out of curiousity, what was the age of the George Kerns in that
cenus?.
I am searching for the parents of George Grove KARNES/CARNES who would
have been born about 1826 (give or take) in OH.
This is the first reference I have seen on this list to anything other
than a name beginning KE-----. Although when I attempted to set up
another list for Karnes or Carnes I was told I could not due to the
existance of this list.

I am looking for information on a Samuel Kerns whom I found in the 1850
census for Columbiana County, OH. He is listed as being from PA and 53 yrs
old. His wife's name is Elizabeth (nee Spitler, I believe) and the

Franklin, Kesiah J, George, Lucinda.
On that same census page, a Milton Kerns is also listed (age 23) just two
houses away with his first wife, Caroline (age 24). I have a strong
feeling that that Milton Kerns is the sa
In the Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, Virginia, are listed several

in Bedford County, VA. Does anyone know the denomination of the Rev. Harris?

This week's word is "Kentucky" :) What this means is in your line, if
you have found any ancestors (or maybe not, but with the surname of the
list) in Kentucky, post it to the list.
FOR NEWBIES: The way the "word of the week" works is I throw out a
topic and if someone has a line that falls into that topic, then they
are *supposed* to post it, unfortunately though, I think the majority of
the lists are lurkers, so not everyone really does. (I ha

Hello everyone! I am in a great mood today (first time in a few weeks
too!)! Here is why:
I wrote a letter to my grandfather's brother in Charlotte, NC last
September or October. This family has some kind of fued between grandpa
and his brothers over some issue (I don't really know what it is about),
but the other side of the family had information that I was interested
in for my genealogy. I wrote a long letter telling all about me and my
side of the family since I've been born and how my parent
Hi lists. I have had quite a few people on these lists give multiple
subsciptions to the list when there is a lull in the posting....quit
it!:) hehe. Don't do that for a couple of reasons.
First off, it is unnecessary, If for some reason you were unsubbed, you
will get a notice from Rootsweb that you were. If you don't get a
notice, but you're not getting any mail from the lists, it's because no
one is posting and resubscribing will not solve that.
Second reason is because it is hard on the Roots
