Here is information on your Peter Kerns who married Lucinda Garard of Berkeley County, VA. Would you please share what you have on the family unit of Peter Kerns? Thanks. Wilmer L. Kerns Michael Kerns, son of Jacob and Susan Kerns, was born in either Pennsylvania or Berkeley County, VA (probably the former). He was born on Dec. 13, 1790 and died on Dec. 5, 1865 at Jones' Spring, Berkeley County. His wife, Nancy Kees, was born circa 1796 and died Jan. 29, 1870. Burial was in the nearby Riner Cemetery, but
8. Re: [KERN-L] Re: Kern family [0.988474]
I, too, am looking for a William KERNS born circa 1840 to the Rev. John KERNS & wife Edna/Edney (nee' SMITH) KERNS. My William had sisters Caroline (who married Elisha West SINEX sr) and they are my great great grandparents; Mary H., and Margaret (although on one census record it looked like Margarita or Marietta, really hard to read but I stuck with Margaret until proven otherwise). According to the obituary of the Rev John KERNS he & Edna were the parents of 6 children although I have not yet found the
9. Re: [KERN-L] a word on gatewayed messages [0.988474]
might i add... if you do reply to the person... tell them about the mailing list... most dont understand the LIST concept.... for if they did, they would stay on the list and leave the boards.... and teach them too, how to search the archives... they cheat themselves not learning.... ----- Original Message ----- From: Erin Bradford To: KERN-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, January 02, 2004 3:10 PM Subject: [KERN-L] a word on gatewayed messages Hi all. 10. [KERN-L] a word on gatewayed messages [0.988474]
Hi all. Just wanted to remind everyone about those "gatewayed" messages that come to the lists. Those message boards are posts on the message boards at ancestry.com. If you wish to reply to a post, you need to click the link that takes you to the message and reply on the board, not the list. The reason for this is that all messages posted to the board are automatically sent to the list, but it doesn't work both ways. If you reply to a post on the list rather than the board, the person on the message bo
11. [KERN-L] Please be aware of this new, but old genealogy scam(s)! [0.988474]
I am forwarding this from fellow genealogist that just sent this to me today. The below message is taken from an article in Dick Eastman's newsletter. Please send this on to others, we don't need anymore genealogists getting ripped off :) Erin Bradford list manager -----------------forwarded message------------------- One of the top stories in 2003 in this newsletter was the arrest of Elias Abodeely, a 23-year-old in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who ran a string of pseudo genealogy sites. His arrest didn't seem
12. Re: [KERN-L] Re: Jacob Kerns [0.988474]
Mr. Kerns: ~ ~ a few years ago we "conversed" of the KERNS family in which my great grandmother Caroline Kerns marriage record and the newspaper reference of her marriage to Elisha West Sinex indicated she was the daughter of the Rev. John KERNS & his wife Edna/Edney SMITH. The following is from a Memorium that I received from the Methodist Conference in Minnesota and including this portion in hopes that you might be able to further help me in "just who" the Rev's father was: Rev. John Kerns was born in H
13. [KERN-L] spam coming to the lists [0.988474]
Hi all. As you know, the message boards for these surnames on ancestry.com are gatewayed to the lists. I want to keep them that way because it provides more opportunity to connect with a cousin; however, the downside is that when "spam" is posted to the message boards, they are automatically sent to the lists. Lately, there has been a string of these to be posted. Only the Bradford and Eller list has been affected so far, but for future reference, anything gatewayed from the message boards to the list t
