Patricia,
First off you do not have to apologise to me. Although I started the Keskastel-Alsace Bossue list quite a few years ago which purpose was for the village of Keskastel which did become part of Bas-Rhin, France in 1793 at then end of the French Revolution, the region had been known by different names prior to 1793. This region was once owned by the Counts of Nassau. Nassau is the part of what is now Germany where Weisbaden or Idstein had been capitals. The Counts of Nassau owned this land often re
I am curious about your statement that your paternal great grandmother being born in Alsace-Lorraine then stating that she was listed as born in Belgium. Belgium was not Alsace and Alsace was not Belgium. So I am curious exactly the name of the village, town or city Leonie Lammens was born in?
I am the person who first started this list for Keskastel which is a town in what is now the Bas-Rhin department of France. Actually, the name Alsace Bossue simply refers to the western most portion of Bas-Rhin. How
There are two Oberhoffen in Alsace - both in Bas-Rhin -
One of them is located near the German border about 10 miles West of the NE
corner of France.
The second one is Oberhoffen-sur-Moder about 20 miles NE of Strasbourg near
the town of Bischwiller.
For more details you can go to www.mapquest.fr and enter the town name to
see the map.

Hi,
I'm new to the list and not even sure this is the right list.
Is Oberhoffen in the area covered by the list?
My geography is pretty weak for the area.
Can someone help me out?
Phyllis
Dear Mr. Reed:
Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy day to respond to my
query. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated.
Living outside of the USA and Europe puts be at a big disadvantage, so I
greatly respect your expertise on the areas of Alsace and Lorraine. I
apologize in advance if I posted my query on the wrong message board.
I was told that Leonie came from Middleburg/Boukhoute, Eeklo, Meetjesland,
Provice East Flanders.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Pat
