Doug, I have in hand a French Road Atlas which contains just about every tiny village and large city in France and is very well indexed. Perhaps the informant for the death certificate of your Magdalena Hermann was unable to distinguish the correct spelling and even the pronunciation of the town's name to provide a close approximation of the spelling. Hello, I'm looking for the town of Bradstaff, Alsace. The town was listed as Magdalena (Herrmann) Stang's birthplace in her death record. The town was probably misspelled when it was recorded. Magdalena (Madaleina) Herrmann sailed from Harve for America on the ship "Great Britain" with her family. They arrived 3 Aug 1829 at the port of New York.
