Hello,
Sorry I can't help you with the information on the cemeteries. I am
interested in Cassius' family up north. I have been researching TAYLORS from
Leavenworth, Johnson, Miami and Cherokee Counties. They seem to have come
from England to Iowa to Kansas. I have been at a brick wall for sometime.
Any information you have on TAYLORS would really help me.
Thank You
Susan Bruce
I am trying to find a burial place for the brother of my
ggrandmother - Cassius M Taylor.
Cassius was the City Marshall for Baxter Springs until June
24 1872 when he was murdered by the town mayor, JR Boyd. I
have a copy of the town council meeting from July 11 1872
where the city approved payment to a Mr J Keenan for
Cassius' burial case- $61.00. This leads me to believe that
Cassius was buried in the area. Cassius' family was further
north in KS - in Leavonworth and Wyandotte Counties and I

I probably should not respond to this query, but I seem to remember that
the Grantham property was at Riverton,KS, Cherokee County. It was located
north of highway 66, across the highway from Empire District Power Plant
on Spring River. I seem to remember hearing that they entertained one of
the cowboy movie stars there at one time. The house later became Spring

Hi Doug,
As far as I know, I have Kinkades in Galena from Abraham Lincoln Kinkade's
time (don't have exact dates, but around 1870) to at least the time that
Albert and Bessie's children were old enough to move away. I think one of
them may still live there, but none of them know anything past Abraham.
Albert and Bessie lived there their entire lives, Albert died in 1965 and
Bessie in 1975.
Regards,
Wendy

Hello,
I am trying to find some information on my ggrandmother's
brother, Cassius Taylor.
He was the marshall of Baxter Springs in the early 1870's.
In June, 1872, he was killed in cold blood by the town's
mayor, JR Boyd. Boyd and Cassius had had a long standing
feud and Boyd killed Cassius when Cassius went to arrest him
after a charge had been laid against Boyd.
I would like to find out where Cassius is buried, likely
somewhere in Baxter Springs. Does anyone know anything

HI TONY,
I am researching FOX, and ASHWORTH lines in Galena. The time frame you are
looking at is close to the same as what you describe. Can you tell me how
long your kinkades stayed in the Galena area?
