Don't know if any of this will help. It might be a good idea to e-mail ahead of time to see what resources they have. The Winfield Library has a small genealogy section. Of course local government would be closed on a Saturday afternoon. If you have relatives buried in Highland Cem. on the south edge of Winfield, the caretaker there was a great help to me in 2003. He laid a plot map on his hood in very windy day and looked up every single grave I was looking for. And I had a bunch. He didn't even

You found the same thing I found for 1880 for James JACKSON. This is what I found in addition: 1860 Chicago; Cook Co, IL James JACKSON 27 IRE +Elizabeth 17 ENG William son 7/12 Chicago, IL Also living with them - Sarah Gillis 55 and Sarah Gillis 20. The clerk's office in Winfield has 3x5 card file of burials at Union Cemetery and perhaps the other cemeteries as well. Another possible resource is the Dawson Monument Company (1317 Main Street, Winfield, KS 67156) which has been in business since 1880, doing cemetery stones for the area. I'd be grateful for precise death dates and cemetery information for George B. Mitchell, born November 1854 IN, and his wife Jennie Mitchell, born December 1861 IN. They lived in Arkansas City.
