Welcome Karen and Ann.
I was born Shirley Ann NEWTON on what was the Dugan Ranch, about 1 mile as the crow flys southwest of the town of Altanta in Omnia Twp
When I was little, I would go with my grandmother, Nettie CURRY to the Atlanta Cemetery on Decoration Day to help put wild roses, asparagus fern and spirea in fruit jars at my relatives graves. My ancestrial relatives buried at Atlanta are the NEWTON, KENT, CUNNINGHAM, and CURRY. These families married into many of the other families buried ther

Thank you. The link worked the first time. I got right in. Howard Mayfield
Apparantly someone has decided it would be cute to send out material of a pornographic nature using my e-mail addressas the sender. This was not from me, so please , don't block my address, and know that I am very upset. I am awaiting instructions on how to handle this.

I was pleased to be able to locacate old friends and school teachers in your
posting of the Riverview Cemetery. I moved away from AC in 1954 and I'm
very disappointed that all the families failed to see the importance of
putting the death dates on their love ones tombstones.
Thanks, Ken

I also have a May line from Winfield KS that is in my father in laws line.
They are:
Noah Moses Wilson married to Eliza Rebecca May.
Her parents were Sanford May and Martha A. Whirly.
Any connections with any of these families will be greatly welcomed and we
are willing to share the information we have.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

How does one access the information listed for this cemetery?
We would like for everyone to know that Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City,
Ks. has been added to the Cowley County site. This is a very large cemetery
and at the time I received the information there were 12,285 burials noted.
There is a lot of information listed thanks to Mary Bartlett.
I understand this list is updated yearly.
Hi Shirley,
I have quite a number of relatives that settled in Omnia Township and are
buried in the Atlanta Cemetery. I grew up in Oklahoma, and Mom and sister
still live in Perry. I live even farther away that you (Watsonville, CA)
now. I'm going home at Thanksgiving to do some research in Cowley County
(oh, yeah, and celebrate Thanksgiving. Almost forgot) so I'd be very
interested in sharing information with you. I have Johnsons, Gregorys,
Horralls, and Berners all there, plus more (including Burger

Hello Shirley,
My name is Howard Mayfield, I was born and lived in Wichita, Sedgwick CO, KS
Until I was 17 yrs of age (1950).
I had many relatives who lived in Cowley County, both maternal and paternal.
Some of these from my mothers side of the family, the OSBORNS are buried in
the Atlanta Cemetery.
My grandmother, Elisabeth Francis (Fanny) OSBORN was buried there in 1953.
Since my interest in geneology developed late in life, I have not been able to
travel to see these places. I live in Georgia

Somewhere in my stuff - I have the reunion materials for several years
back. My mother used to go and I think my aunt and uncle still go. My
mother did not graduate from Geuda High School - my grandparents just
couldn't make it financially - so moved to Oklahoma City in the 40's.
BUT she still went to the reunions since her frinds were still there.

Lou,
I apologize for taking so long to answer your email on our May lines.
Things have really been busy around here and I haven't had much spare time.
I wish I knew more about our May line. This is all I have on them and I
hope with all my heart that you can connect and give me some help with them.

Wilma,
Thanks for the warning. After subscribing for a newsletter that I thought
was secure (on end-time theology, no less) I started receiving up to a dozen
unsolicited e-mails a day. Either about mortgage refinancing or something
offensive. It is amazing how much detail can be squeezed into the subject line!
Enough to gross me out daily. Anyway, it does happen to all of us, I'm sorry it
happened to you, and we won't hold it against you.
Blessings,

Hello Cowley County list!
My name is Debera Tredennick from Lubbock, Texas. My mother, my
grandmother, and my grandfather were all born in Geuda Springs. I have
bits and pieces of information from over the years. I have numerous
aunts, uncles and cousins who lived, died, and were buried in Cowley
County.
This is such a great, friendly list. I hope that I can send on
information as I dig it out of the boxes in my house!
My Cowley County surnames are: McCabe, Quinn, and Washburn.
