Depending on where you live, there are different options to pursue. Live in a city where they are universities-call the librarian there and ask if their are conservators in the area. Live where they are museums that have written documents- call the headhog there and ask. But for Pete's sake, don't scotch tape it together.

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Miss Lizzie NORTH which was taken at The Marvin Art Co. Studio in Olathe, Kansas. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Lizzie noted as 14 years old at the time. In addition to her name and age someone has also written "a cousin of Edith" on the back of the photograph.
