Just a note - I forgot to mention the time of the book signing on the 9th -
it's 10-3 pm CDT. We are now getting publicity on one of our cable channels
and the Glasgow Daily Times carried a large article.
I got to see where we'll be meeting. As many of you know, The South Central
KY Cultural Center (Museum of the Barrens) will be slowing moving into
their new facilities. We will be THE first and the ONLY one allowed to use
their new conference room until they are done. It is a large, spacious room
with kit
I'm new to this list, I switched to it from SCKY when we got home from
vacation, since most of my research is Barren Co based.
The families I have an interest in are the families of:
Leonard Hall md Elizabeth (Betsey) Hays
Michael Houk md Nancy Harrison (2nd wife) (1st wife Elynor Donan)
Also interested in Mouser and Pruitt (Prewitt)
Always interested in any lines connected to the above.

17 Mar 1832 John G. Clements sold his stated half share of the 300 acres
and hewed log house adjoining the brick tavern to Robert Slaughter Bell.
Unlike the previous schemers, the honest citizen Bell knew Clements owned
the land. Robert Slaughter Bell paid the Clements court costs and $345.00
for a deed to the last share of land.
2 Mar 1839 Robert Slaughter Bell, (NOT WILLIAM BELL), bought the entire
Moorehead heirs landed holdings in the forks area to include the "TAVERN
KNOWN AS WALKER"S STAND."

In case you didn't see the notice, rootsweb has added the Social Security
death index to the web. AND, they've done something neat with it. They have
added a feature called Post It - like a post it note. If you find someone
that is related to you, or on whom you have information you are willing to
share, you can click on the Add a post it. It will give you a place to
enter your name, email address and a short message. I've been going thru my
Gorin clan this afternoon. When someone finds this note and clicks

These are abstracted from my publication of surveys by Edmund Rogers and
Daniel Curd. There is no genealogical information in these - it lists only
the location, year of survey by Rogers, individual for whom the survey was
done and normally property lines and/or chain carriers.

tips out there. I normally post on Thurday mornings - it's a closed list
thus only one post a week from me.

The Metcalfe Co Historical Society, via Kay Harbison, the prez, asked if I
might consider publishing this on the list and I heartily agreed. I've seen
the book, I indexed same for them.
The Society began in 1992, with the help of the Kentucky Bicentennial
Committee, to collect histories of the various churches in Metcalfe Co,
past and present. Their new book, "Metcalfe County Church Histories" is now
at the publishers and will be available December 1, 1999. It contains
histories of the most active churches

Wishing you a wonderful day - all the books are gone - and thanks so much!

That does it for today ... there's something strange going on outside!
Heard this loud banging in the sky and there's some little drops of
something falling on our lawn hit and miss ... strange!
Tomorrow I'll be posting from Hart Co Cemeteries, Monroe County Circuit
Court cases; the 1870 Cumberland Co census and WWII soldiers.
A closing question. I have a photocopy of a 169 page book on the HOUCHENS
family which I presume the late Eva Coe Peden had copied. It was done by
Dr. Paul C. HOUCHENS and there is
I've been quiet this week - daughter Shelley is still ill one week later
but hopefully improving. I'm worn to a frazzle right now and not perking
too rapidly as I fight a cold or what she had (which is putting many people
in the hospital). My toner and drum are out on my copier and back ordered
for a week now. SO........
I hope the family sheet posts (currently WINN) are helpful, I will do this
on a hit and miss basis - I have likely 300 family files.
I'm going to rearrange my posting schedule - some days
