3. [KYBATH] RE: Leah McCarty Powers [1]
Rick, Leah states her age in a pension form I have that her daughter in law, Cynthia Wells Powers was applying for as her husband {Leah's oldest son} was killed in the Civil war. Leah's death date is after 1888 as Barb found a newspaper article on her in 1888. Leah married Jeremiah on Sept 11, 1823 in Bath Co., KY. and the name Costigan was marked out and McCarty wrote in that is why Barb and the rest of us believe Leah's mother is the Elizabeth McCarty that is head of household in Bath Co., KY. in 1810 and

8. [KYBATH] RE: Leah McCarty Powers [1]
Thanks, Sharon. I have a book on the Bath County census from 1820-1840.Page 225 is William Costigan who I believe to be Elizabeth's son age 20-30 and his wife age 15 under 20 who was Honor Hart. They do not have an older lady with them or even children yet in 1840. The Costigan on 228 is Sarah Costigan, don't know who she is, has 1 male 10 and under 15 and 1 female 10 and under 15 and herself age 30 under 40. Elizabeth could have been living with a daughter but do not know as yet who all her daughters were

Not sure where I got the 1810 census info, I need to recheck that as Bath Co. does not have 1810 census. In 1820 William Costigan and Elizabeth are living in a neighborhood full of Power's: next door is George Power and then an Elinor and a Polly Power and a few doors away a Briant Power and a few doors the other way is a James Power.
