Lee...
You are EXACTLY right.... in my 30 years of research... I have seen
many explanations....
one called it "The Dark and Bloody Ground".... but as you stated...
no one really knows except that IT WAS a name given to the area by the
Indians... that much we do know...

Several years ago when my cousin's and I were in Carlisle, there was a man
who owned the drug store [I think it was the drug store] who was a Myers or
related to the Myers. It seems like he was adopted into the Myers family.
Does anyone know this man? What Myers line did he come from? He was
into genealogy many years ago I guess but wasn't interested in talking with
us when we were there.
I am still trying to find any info on Edgar Myers who was the son of Lindsey
Myers. Any replies most appreciated.

I am attempting to identify the children of Sarah Eden Duty
(1798-1882) and John Duty (1785-1856). Both are buried at Old Bethel
Cemetery. Believe one daughter was Mary (born about 1824) who
married a Mr. Spratt as Sarah Duty was living with Mary on the 1880
census of Bath Co. at Sharpsburg. Could someone assist with a marriage
date for a Mary Duty to Mr. Spratt? Would estimate marriage in the
1840's.
Would anyone have access to 1900 census to see if Mary Spratt is listed
or any of her chi
I am trying to find the relationship (if any) between the DeBoard (Debord)
family and the Andrew Jackson Suttle family. Andrew Jackson Suttle (b. ca.
1823) married Nancy Caroline Carpenter on 28 Nov 1849. He had a twin
sister named Judy who married Shelby Carpenter (brother to Nancy).
Family lore indicates that possibly the mother of A. J. & Judy Suttle may
have been a DeBoard. But other than some graves in the DeBoard Cemetery
(in which A. J. Suttle, his wife and two daughters are buried), the onl

The only thing I have in my database is an Ethel Maze who married a
Emory Cassity. I don't have very reliable sources but, I have that
Emory is buried in the Hedrick Cemetery, in Bath Co., Kentucky.
I know that's not much .... but every tidbit helps....

Hi Folks,
My name is John Souder. My Grandfather is Elbert Walker McKinney
known as Bert McKinney. His second wife was Lula Pieratt according to
the my Grandfather's family Bible.
She had TB before they were married and my grandfather knew that she

story goes.
I have a date for their marriage as 30 Jun 1906. Lula died on the
12th of Apr 1907 but I am not sure where. I strongly believe it was

Well, if I have been paying attention to my sources a bit I'd have noticed
that young 4 year old Laura Anderson living with William and Jane (Anderson)
Woodard on the 1870 census was listed as Laura Anderson age 13 on the 1880
census AND listed as a Grand Daughter to Jane.
That takes care of one of them!!
William and Jane only had one daughter that I know of. Sarah J.
Woodard...that means she married an Anderson if Laura is Jane Woodard's
Grand Daughter. The rest of the grand Kids would be Woodard's thru th
Hello: I am new to the list. I am researching Graysons of Bath/Menifee/Fleming Co. My GG Grandfather, George W. Grayson (1844-1923). His parents, John Grayson (1825-?) and Mary Igo were from Bath Co. John's parents, Joshua Grayson and Polly Carah, got married in Bath Co. in 1823.
There were earlier Graysons in Bath Co. and I'm trying desperately to collect any/all information on Graysons.
Any assistance would be appreciated!

I am trying to find a number of Carpenter connections. One is whether
Squire Carpenter and Michael Carpenter are related and if so, how. Also,
are they related to John Carpenter and Absolem/Abner/Ab Carpenter shown on
the 1850 census?
Also I am trying to find the connection (if any) between Nancy Caroline
(Carpenter) Suttle [married Andrew Jackson Suttle] and Shelby Carpenter
[married Judy Suttle sister of A. J.]. I am fairly sure that Shelby is the
son of Squire & Elizabeth (Smith) Carpenter.

I haven't posted my names in some time and maybe we have some new people with

is that Hannah had married a Mr. McClain who died on the Cumberlan
Hi,
The list has been kinda quiet these days.... let's see if I can fire
it up some!!
I'm looking for descendents and allied families of William Spencer

I am most interested in finding the descendents of HIS CHILDREN:

Hi All,
I found her... with a little help from my friends !!! A fellow researcher found her on familysearch.com in the 1880 census of Morgan County. Her name was Lula but the census of 1880 called her "Lou". Middle initial "E" lines up as well as her birth Year.
As I worked into it.... I discovered that Lula was the first cousin once removed of Vollie Katherine Kilgore. As you might remember, Kate is the wife of A.B. "Alpha Bascomb" McKinney, my Grandfather's brother.
That's probably how my G
