One Was Killed. Shot While Fleeing From a Posse of Officers.
Middlesboro, Ky., April 21. At Cumberland Gap Wednesday one man was
killed and another seriously wounded in a fight following an attempted
arrest. Silas Isman and John Wright were seen to jump from a train with
sacks, supposed to be booty, and make for the mountains. S.A. Williams
led a posse, and catching up with the men was met by a volley of shots,
none of which took effect. He returned the fire with a shotgun,

Hello,
On the 1870 Bell Co. Fed. Census transcribed and annotated and sold by
Gertrude NOLAN, there is this listing:

his inaugural address, March 4, 1861, said: "I declare that I have no purpose,

Hi Patricia,
Thank you so much for your help.
Please let me know about the copy from Covington, and we can work that out on Emma Akers.
I thought the Acres spelling had been cleared up by 1930.
As for David Stewart Akers, I never heard anyone say that he died while out of KY, but that
is possible, and brought back to Bell Co for burial with his wife, Emma. On this, I will keep
trying. I found out he had been married before Emma too, and no one told me, unless
Stewart kept that a secret from everyone. h

I am new to list and in search of what may be the real name for a 'Mack' Wilder who married 'Jane' Miracle. On a piece of paper I have a note that Mack's father is L.H. Wilder whom I am assuming is Levi Henry Wilder s/o Joseph & Sarah Saylor Wilder.
Mack and Jane Wilder had a child name Walter b. in 1884 in Pineville, KY. So I would assume Mack & Jane would have been born in the mid to late 1860's.
Other information on the note are listed the following as relation to
Walter: J.A. Miracle, uncle.
My husband is related to the Newby's, Moore's, Crigger's and the Treadway's.
His grandfather was Jim Newby married to Rose Moore and lived in Middlesboro,
Ky in the early 50's. They had 4 daughters and I son. Would like to hear
from anyone who could give us additional information mainly on the Newby's and
Moore's.
