Boyd Listmembers, I don't want to search the archives etc. for what's been posted and what has not been posted. Over the summer weeks I will do some posting of mine own that I hope will give you some insight to find histories, obits, marriages, anything that might be available for you to check. The Ashland Daily Independent is online at: http://www.dailyindependent.com/index.php You can get daily news for free, some online papers are starting to charge for this. 5. [KYBOYD] Cemetery [1]
Hi Mr. McClure, I went to the site you suggested at the Boyd County Public Library. I was surprised to find such a wealth of information on the local cemeteries. I was looking for the Stephenson Cemetery and found it on that site, the only problem is I'm not familiar with the area. The Stephenson Cemetery is located near Durbin Creek, I was hoping someone might know the area and give me directions, I would be coming from Ironton. I also tried Yahoo but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Mark, The Ashland-Boyd Co. Library has a storehouse of information in the Genealogy Room with a very helpful staff. I think they monitor this list so you will probably hear from them. The County Court house in Cattlettsburg might have maps of the county. The library has a series of books that have cemeteries listed but I don't know of any one book. I think they also have some things on their web site. I live in Lexington or I would run over there myself and check. The Genealogical Socie

Boyd Researchers, I appreciate Ralph in turning the Boyd Listserve over to me. I have been the Ohio Meigs Listserve coordinator for 4 1/2 years now myself. Over the next 3-6 months, I plan to phase myself out of that responsiblity and work with you on Boyd County, Kentucky. I haven't been a member for a few years to this particular listserve. With the main reason being using all my resources on Meigs county listserve. I was born in Ashland. My G-Grandfather came from Meigs County, along with his bro

Mark, I can only answer one of your questions about the Genealogy/Historical society. There is a Boyd County Historical Society and it receives its mail at the Boyd County Public Library, 1740 Central Ave in Ashland, KY. They don't have a separate website but have some information on the library site, http://www.thebookplace.org There is also an Eastern Kentucky Genealogical Society which is located in Ashland and they also do not have website. Hi gang, 1. Maps are scarce. The county road maps do not show cems etc. BUT order the topo's and they do. CAUTION. Cems are spelled funny and not all cems are listed - example Klaiber Cem is Clyber on the map. 2. No published Cem books. But ALL readings that are known accept Rose Hill are on line YEP at www.thebookplace.org. Click on the family tree - the databases are on the left side of the page in a box. Remember this is if your individual had a stone and some readings have not been updated

25. [KYBOYD] Boyd Cty. Library Links [1]
Boyd Listmembers, For whatever reason, the Boyd Library has an excellent site for genealogy purposes. I know there's a link between the KYBoyd Webpage site and the Boyd Library, but I think the site has what I consider Rootsweb type links, searches and helpers. This is probably nothing new to most of you, but just in case, here's the breakdown. It is a great non-Rootsweb site. The Main Page is: http://www.thebookplace.org/ The Genealogy Page is: http://www.thebookplace.org/pages/gene.htm For Obitua
